  1. well, i could probably help you to stop the backfiring... but more flames? i think they just run there bikes rich.
  2. i have an 1984 xj600 (its an fj600 but they were released in Australia as an xj) its quite hard to find parts for them (if you find any please let me know) i would recommend that you ask down at your local tire shop. clean them, or find a better carb and check that they are not warn out, like my friends (causes flooding). i recommend that you take the suspension to be looked at, or make sure that it is not leaking any fluid considering the price and the age of the bike. They are great bikes, im not so sure about them for learners though because they do have quite a bit of power and could possibly scare a rider. and im 6'3 and yeah they have a great set up for taller people. and if you are ever going to wreck this bike please i am looking for a lefthand control unit (the one with the flashers and indicators etc.)
