  2. Can still remember the proud day my dad entrusted me with the exciting mission of heading to the local petrol station to fill his petrol can with some 4 star. Could I manage this ultra high tech machinery all by myself????? Of course I could ...... but suddenly noticed a rather pretty young blonde laughing uncontrollably in the passenger seat of her boyfriend's car who shouted over "I think your done now mate." I looked down and realised that I had not only filled the petrol can but also covered the half the bloody forecourt because I was so busy checking out everything but the petrol pump. To this day I'm terrified of petrol cans ...... true story (ish)
  3. No .... It was hard to see anything through the tears as I was leaving empty handed ...... As for the acronym BMW .... Mmmmm, not exactly what I would like to get my hands on but whatever floats your boat, up.yours !!!!!
  4. Vic - think I did the same thing en route back from Aughnacloy last week . Saw the white R1 - very tasty indeed - along with a brave few others. Have to admit though - also saw some nice BMW's too (I'm sorry, don't mean to swear in a Yamaha forum ) .....
  5. Firstly - ditch the fishing boots! It's just madness riding without the proper protective gear - esp if you're still new to both motorcycling & your machine. About 8 months ago, there I was standing in my local Hein Gericke store trying not to pass out at the cost of the boots - something I then needed. Anyhoo, I listened to the shop Manager giving it large to the customer in front who clearly felt completely obliged to spend no less than £300 on his boots. After he went, the Manager admitted to me that he had personally tried almost all the boots in the store at some point and the pair he felt were the best were actually close to the cheapest - a decent balance of comfort, protection & waterproofing. Needless to say I bought them - more to do with budget than sales pitch to be honest. I have found them brilliant - I wear them all day at work and they are more comfortable than some shoes I've bought. Waterproofing is spot on - a weekly clean and regular waterproof treatment doesn't do any harm. Cost? 80 scoobies at Hein Gericke. 18. Priceless I can well remember a few occasions when a 'real' biker chose to acknowledge me passing with my L plates and I just kept forgetting that your right hand really is better staying on the throttle - waving and then desperately trying to regain control isn't exactly James Dean

  20. Absolutely !! Was riding home yesterday in terrible wind & rain (in fact the worst wind I've ridden in to date) and was still thoroughly enjoying life on a bike - was tempted to simply post 'I love biking' but thought that would sound a bit sad ...... but just being well enough to get a bike and take 'er for a rip really helps keep some things in perspective ..... hence the vid
