  1. There is something unfathomably sad and pathetic about this. If I had an abiding, burning desire to own a Harley and I couldn't afford it, I wouldn't even wear an item of clothing with "HD" logo on it. This betrays a child-like emotional underdevelopment, a bit like scrawling "Harley Davidson" on your Raleigh chopper bicycle when you're 11.
  2. Might be worth checking the stator and regulator/rectifier as well, to ensure the charging system is working.
  3. I love the sound of my pipes, but I don't go broom broom broom at the lights. I occasionally give it a small bip, just a polite cough, to remind cagers I'm there. Riding in the Rotherhithe and Blackwall tunnels though is a blast, especially overtaking (which is not allowed! ).
  4. Honda CY50 in my teens in Greece. Horrid little thing with small fat wheels, handled like riding a greased pig, with about as much power as an aneamic snail.
  5. Went for this in the end: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=141008142023&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:3160 The sooner it gets here, the sooner I can start riding again!
  6. Anybody know where I can source a non-oem stator for the draggie? The OEM one from Fowlers is £250, I can get much cheaper ones off ebay, but they are all from the US, so import duties blah blah... Anybody know anywhere else?
  7. Ok dt, so what does a remapping do? Is it to change the power band or something? I'll admit my experience is only with carbed bikes needing rejetting when fitting freer flowing pipes.
  8. I am unfamiliar with this woman's total views and political outlook. But in what way is what she says in the above video "far right"? I recognise far right ideology, as well as far left ideology, when I see it. I think both are idiotic, and do not act as antidotes for each other.
  9. While I agree with what is said, how is it *non* political?
  10. Most aftermarket pipes will require a remap, there is no getting around it. Noisy pipes are noisy because they allow the gasses straight through, which means lower back pressure, which means leaner mixture, which means popping and farting and general poor running.
  11. I think these pipes might be custom made. The equivalent from cobra or v&h would cost about £600-£700. Let us know what the police have to say. A hit-and-run can mean a spell in prison. We'd all love to know how this bastard's life gets, um, "complicated"!
  12. Thanks for that NSD, rang them this morning, they didn't have the plug in question. And it looks like Electrex haven't delivered on their promises either, a rather bored lady on the phone said there is no lead time for my order (though they said it should be ready end of last week). Couldn't wait to get me off the phone. Told them to stuff it. Looks like I'll have to go OEM in the end...
  13. Hi Cris and welcome to the forum. I can answer some of your questions, I'm sure others will be along to do the same. - The draggie is an excellent intro to cruisers, not too heavy, not too big, and handles far better than she has any right to. - Are you looking at the custom or classic model? I'm guessing the classic since that resembles the HD fatboy more. - As long as the battery's good she can sit for 2-3 weeks with no problems, but it's probably a good idea to get a charger. Removing the battery is quite easy. - Now, commuting: you can certainly use it for that, again, along with the handling, it' a suprisingly good commuter. Make sure you only do it in dry weather though, as the rear monoshock can get corroded and snap in two. - I'm sure your height will not be an issue.
  14. That is the RR connector, hence the cable length issue.
  15. The nice people at electrex in Oxford have agreed to make me a reg rec with an extra long cable for an extra tenner. One that unplugs both ways, so should not be a problem in future. Thanks again for all the advice peeps, saved me having to return incompatible parts!
  16. I'm going to ring up electrex uk tomorrow and see if they can't make me one to order.
  17. the connector under the tank. The thick wire you see coming out towards you is the RR connecting wire. no plug on the sodding thing...
  18. Well, it's confirmed, the bastard fucking thing is hard wired, no plug, and the connector on the bike is deffo a 5-pin, coming out the wire loom under the tank at the neck area. That means I need a good 60cm length. Why the fuck my 2002 custom had to go and be different to anyone else's I don't know. What the fuck are Yamaha playing at? You need to remove a simple component like the RR and you have to take the tank off???
  19. Checked with wemoto on the phone this am, cable is way too short.
  20. Hmm, ok I'll check again to see if I can unplug the cable from the RR at the base. Was pretty sure I couldn't but will have another look.
  21. Nope, mine's not like that. The cable from the RR goes up the frame, by the neck and under the tank where the connector is. Its maybe 60cm long.
  22. Thanks guys. Does it matter if it's a 5 pin or a 6 pin? The original one is a 5 pin. The connector under the tank has 6 slots however. And is the connector cable long enough to reach up under the tank?
