  1. It is hard work at sustained motorway speeds, but it's not the type of riding that I like, and it's rare that I ever have to do it. For all other scenarios it pretty much fits the bill.
  2. Hey Alan....what mileage you up to now? You must be getting on for about 3000 I would have thought. Is the engine loosening up a bit? And have you changed the oil since you got back?
  3. I wouldn't want new Alan. Ideally a low mileage one mid 90's. Went into ET James....they're a waste of space aren't they? Not even interested in talking to you.

  5. The big XT is not a dirtbike though....it's a dualsport/adventure tourer! 8)
  6. It is a very good bike, I nearly bought one about a year ago actually. Here's a good review: http://www.thumperpage.com/articles/Serow.html
  7. .....for an XT225 Serow for the wife to use offroad. Only available in the UK as a grey import, so I've got to do a bit of searching to find one. They're a great little bike though. Anybody know of any for sale?
  8. That's stretching the truth a bit Scott...calling a Mullet a hairstyle!
  9. Be great to have a run out together Tym...you never know, maybe it will happen one day. 8)

I've had 2 Fazers (1 new) and a Divvy 9. If I was doing predominantly 2 up motorway work then the Divvy is the bike for it. Any other circumstances and the Fazer pisses all over it. Goes like stink, 55mpg, handles great, smooth, comfortable, and much lighter than the Divvy. 2 up you have to work a lot harder to maintain a pace though and you're continually up and down the box. But for all round road bike purposes the Fazer has no equal IMO.
  11. Ditch the Mullet and we may consider your application Scott! 8)
  12. Your mates must have been surprised by your choice of bike though? Talking to Sean in David Jones yesterday, and he said he was initially worried that you'd hate it after the CB. Told him that we were both at the Last Chance Saloon until Salvation arrived!
  13. Glad you had a good trip Alan...sounds great. What did your mates think of the XT? And 78mpg....how the hell did you manage that? I normally get about 55 to 60 but that's two up under varying types of roads.
  14. Walking up the mountain? Take the DT funky. 8)
  15. I tell you what, there's a lot of people converting to dualsport. I see it on a lot of forums, particularly the US ones. Guys get a cheap DS as a 2nd bike and end up not wanting to ride their main road bike after it. So many people have had a gutful of heavy, complicated, and expensive road bikes which are so limiting in where they can be ridden enjoyably. Plus, you can have a lot of fun at safe speeds....doing 80 on the XT feels faster than 120 did on my Thundercat. And did I mention that they handle on real world roads like nothing else? I've always liked enduro style bikes and since Tym got his KLR and seeing all his pics, I knew I had to get one. I'd had a few in the past, but not since the late 80's. I'm sorry I left it so long TBH.

Sorry to hear that mate.
  17. Me and the wife had a great run today...total of 150 miles. From Llandod, through Llanidloes, then over the mountain to Machynlleth, finally ending up in Dolgellau. Lot of narrow single track roads, and we even managed to have a plod round a few Forestry Commission tracks on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. We deliberately avoid all the major roads, particularly on a Sunday when they turn into Racetrack Wales. About 5 miles from home, an ambulance with all the lights and sirens on was coming the other way. No prizes for guessing why. Anyway, here's some photos.... Parked up by the lake on the Llanidloes to Machynlleth road. Off the beaten track near Dolgellau, North Wales. Forestry Commission area on the way back down from Dolgellau to Machynlleth. On the mountain road from Devils Bridge to Rhayader. 8) 8) 8)
  18. How many oil changes you up to now? The XT had them done at 600, 1600, 2700, and 3800, all with filter replacements. Castrol GPS went in the first two....then Silkolene 8) in the last two. Next one 4900 (just oil though)....then the 6000 mile dealer service.
  19. It would be easier to say who doesn't come to mind! 8)

If Suzuki were involved there wouldn't be a recall Scott. 8) BTW...one of the guys on WSaTC went touring France on his Busa. Bad move....subframe snapped!
  21. Yam know that you BleedinYanks can't handle the real bikes Scott!
  22. needs work, no fluid in the brakes, corrosion, wear and tear, So it's a NEW Suzuki then? Looks fun on those roads with a dualsport too. What's the KLR mileage now Tym?
  23. Armor All for black plastic and rubber. Autoglym for everything else.
