Well...I've come to a decision! The XT has to go I'm afraid. We've now done 250 miles in 2 days, the wife's taking even more Ibuprofen, and my ass is really sore. Phil (Renegade) from WSaTC rode it today for 10 minutes...and his ass was hurting too! He did point out that it was vastly underpowered, particularly for 2 up. And I got to agree. Still, I've done 3000 miles in 3 months on it, had loads of fun, and whatever I decide to go for (doubt if I'll go new), I'll probably get more for it than what it's stood me at £2.7K. So watch this space! 8)

Every review I've seen about the Strom is full of praise. Incidentally for £200 less I could get an XT like yours, but when you compare the spec of the 2, particularly with regard to pillions, the Strom does look better value for money.
  8. Crossing streams? You deliberately got the bike wet?
  9. What year was that Yam Tym?

  11. One of the designers of the FJR has participated in the development of a new prototype. http://ymedc.introweb.nl/en/archive/enduro...o/tricker.shtml You really need to see this bit of video! http://www.cruiser.no/filer/yamaha-tricker_small.mpeg

I really am in a bit of a predicament. I don't really want to buy a brand new bike, especially this time of the year. But the ludicrous part ex value they'll give me means that the difference I'd be paying for a new one would be the same amount as I'd be paying for a second hand one elsewhere.

Very true...but unfortunately for you, some of them are rather nasty old men who don't like lippy kids! 8)

There is of course the legendary incident involving a Suzuki Hustler and a foreskin.
  18. Pete replied to Pete's topic in General
But would having a bad ass be accepted as an excuse for Suzuki ownership?
  19. There will be the next time you're out. I'm gonna stand at the roadside and fart like fuck in your direction. 8)

No, I haven't been to a Honda Rally either! And the wife's got even more ailments......her ass, leg, back, and neck is killing her! Reason for the grief: We did a 180 mile round trip on the XT today...from Llandod to Haverfordwest to see "Dai the Deal" in Garland & Griffiths. Now I love the XT, but anything more than short runs is physically hard going, particularly on the wife. It's now reached the point where she can't do more than about 50 miles on it without pain. I even had to stop on the way back for her to take Ibuprofen. Anyway Dai Garland offered me a new 54 plate V-Strom 650 for £1700 plus the XT.....which is quite attractive considering the XT only stands me £2700....and a new V-Strom is normally £5150 otr. It's a case of damned if I do and damned if I don't!
