Went off into the middle of nowhere....heading towards Maria via Orce. The sky was blue....temps in the mid 30's.....and the roads (as always) were clear! It's about 40 miles to get there.....and wilderness wherever you look! This is not the type of place to break down, especially in this heat! However, when you ride a Yamaha you don't need to concern yourself with things like that! The town of Orce is halfway to Maria, so I parked up on a hill overlooking the town! It was hot! And here's some views overlooking the town..... Then down to Maria, a couple of minutes to cool down....and off I went again. It was then that I got buzzed and disrespected by a dumbass on a GSX-R, and I don't tolerate that shit. These wannabe's (who've probably got a garage full of bikes) just can't understand that you respect the man and not the bike. It was just his bad luck that we were getting into motard territory, where the little XT really comes into it's own. He passed me at the entrance to a bend as I'm plodding along and then hit the brakes hard, shutting the door on me. So I buzzed him for 3 miles on his tail, showing him I could have done him on every bend, from either side, and then slipstreamed him 6 ins off his tail on every straight. Eventually he'd become so flustered he pulled over and stopped. Pretended to be fiddling with the bike! Seen that one before! So a few miles later I'm plodding along again so he really goes for it! Right up on my tail and no doubt he planned to give me the same hassle I gave him. He thought he could hang with me on motard roads.....but he had his clock cleaned....big style! Every bend or sequence of bends saw me widen the gap between us. Till eventually he wasn't even in my mirror! Anyway, carried on heading back....still at full pelt....cos once you've upped the ante, the only way to drop back down to plodding is to get off and have a break. So I called into my favourite Shell V-Power garage....top notch fuel btw. I use nothing else! This is the garage which has the donkeys and ponies! Nearer home I had to call into one of the Brit-owned caves on business. So it was down a dirt track with the XT..... Then back to the house by 3pm by which time it was really getting warm. This was the first proper run I've given the XT since I did the oil cocktail of mineral and semi synth. And it really seems to like mineral oil in it....running smoother and quieter than it ever has. So I think I'll be totally switching it over to the Castrol GP mineral oil on the next change. A nice couple of hours out....and a good run for the XT! Time for cleaning I think!

    Triple wax!
  4. I've seen or two about, but as you've said they're pretty gutless. TBH....I'm not even sure what the hell they're for. Personally I'd say look elsewhere. Nice V-Strom is what you want!
  5. Good work Capt!

Strom's great Andy! The 650 was OK for the UK, but out here you need the 1000.

....... I'm a Welshman living in Spain! In the town of Huescar in Granada, Andalucia to be precise. And a mate of mine from Essex made the trip down! Dellboy! He rode down through France....stayed in the Pyrenees for a few days (where he witnessed a Dutch guy on a 1200GS writing it off) and then motored down to Denia near Benidorm. We arranged to meet up in Cartagena in the Murcia province, which is a round trip of about 250 miles for each of us. I was out early (8.30am) before the heat kicked in..... .....and 2 hours later I got to the harbour in Cartagena, with the submarine as the meeting point. Del was already there....by the time he gets back to Essex he'll have racked up 3000 miles on the trip. That's me on the left and dellboy on the right. Then a look around Cartagena harbour. It was quiet at the time so no dumb Brits puking up everywhere! Had a few cool drinks in a nice air conditioned bar on the harbour....by which time (noon) things started warming up. Trust me, you do not want to be caught out on a bike between 2 and 5 in August. So both of us made a move to get back home. As quickly as possible. The Stroms looked quite cool though.... I led Del onto the slip road for the Alicante road heading north, and I carried on to the Murcia road heading west. The other side of Murcia it was time to refuel....and find some bloody shade! Another 50 miles and I'd reached El Moral.....time to dive in the aircon cafe bar there. Then another 30 miles and home! A total of 400kms/250 miles....though the trip home was quite tiring because the temperature had risen up to 35. I can take it up to that point but then it gets really hard. I won't ride without a jacket so I've just got to sweat it out. A great day out....and one fly splattered Strom! Obviously within a couple of hours it was back to pristine again! Hope you liked the report, and when temperatures start dropping in September there'll be plenty more to come!

You pair of dumbasses! It's Spam! But looking on the bright side, at least the SpamBots don't ask fucking dumb questions like "How do I oil a chain?" and "How do I put my bike on the stand?"

This phrase counter steering is a big scam to make money out of books/vids/courses etc. Why? Because we always did it.....it's just that we didn't know we were doing it. Then somebody comes along, analyses everything to the nth degree, and repackages it as some sort of innovation. All it's now achieved is adding complication to what we did naturally....because instead of just steering, we're thinking about steering. This guy didn't analyse physics...and the phrase counter steering hadn't been invented then. Didn't stop him going round corners though.
  13. Pete replied to madshep's post in a topic in The Bar
Don't brake when cornering. And don't lean either. Do your braking before you enter the corner, then steer! The angle of lean is the consequence of your steering inputs.....so don't think "lean"....think "steer".

Not content with that....I also conquered the Paris/Dakar-type terrain at the Fuencaliente Leisure Area! If you Losers need any tips just let me know!

  22. Pete replied to mikesbaron's post in a topic in Dual Sport, Offroad Bikes
As I understand it there's no plans to import it there, cos Yamaha reckon the market doesn't warrant it.
