Seat Height?
It's not just the height of the seat John....it's the width as ell. And I doubt your MB's seat is as wide as an R6. Go to a showroom and sit on one.

Seat Height?
It certainly does help to be taller. I'm not tall (5ft 11ins), but I'm lucky that I have a shorter body and very long legs for my height. Other guys around my height have sat on my XT600 and they can only get one leg on the floor. Both mine reach the floor flat so there's no problem. I don't think sportsbikes are particularly high, but the lowest seat height I've seen on that type of bike is the ZZR600.

Tragic news!
As I mentioned in another thread yesterday, I rode out to the Forest of Dean to meet up with friends from the Welsh Sports and Tourers Club. Me and the wife got there about 1.30, but no sign of them. Stayed for a while, then rode home via Hereford. So when I got back home I found out that there'd been a serious accident amongst the group while making their way there. Unfortunately I found out today that the rider concerned (Andrew) was killed on a bend while riding his Hayabusa. I hadn't met him yet as he'd only recently joined the club, but you still feel the pain when you lose one of us. Sympathies to Andrew's family, and any condolence messages posted here will be copied to the tribute thread on the WSaTC Forum. One more thing guys, and I know I keep saying it.....but please be careful on your bikes.

ive booked a track day!!!
That's the way to go. You have kids....your first priority has to be safety. If you don't feel confident yet, that's normal. Just take it steady and get the right advice. And that help has to be based on Real world riding, not trackday skills.

Yammie Girl....forget that track shite. Go to WH Smith asap and buy this: If you want riding help go to the Police Bikesafe courses....those guys can ride.

ive booked a track day!!!
This is the time of the year when bad things happen. They don't have to happen....but some people choose to put themselves at risk. Usually sportsbikes I'm afraid.

ive booked a track day!!!
They want your money Yammie. Riding round a flat, smooth track is not going to help you deal with traffic situations in the real world. Road training is what you need. It's early days, you need to develop slowly. The most important part is being safe....not fast cornering. If you don't feel confident on right handers, then slow down and get some experience in real world conditions.

You don't want track tuition Yammie.....you need to get road experience and help from advanced instructors. Road and track cornering are two different things....if you start applying track cornering to roads, you'll be in trouble. Like I said....road experience is what you need. Nothing fast or risky....forget about speed.....and work on being smooth.
