But engine oil doesn't have the adhesive qualities to stick axl. PJ1 BLUE...not Black.....really does stick. Smells like cat's piss though!

Looks like Alan's banned another two. The Suzuki Twat and the DryMinge have been nuked. Shit...he don't take no prisoners does he? I'm keeping my head down just in case I'm next!

Tip for you axl. Get a chain cleaner like Castol or Motul and really clean it up. Get all the shit off it. Ride it round for 10 minutes to warm the chain. Then apply PJ1 Blue. I always lube my chain when I get back from a run cos that's the best time cos the chain is hot. Then instead of the oil running, it just bakes into a layer of oil on the chain. Fling will then be minimal. Using this method, I only ever have to make a minute chain adjustment every 1000 miles. I reckon I could get 25K-30K out of a chain....but I never keep a bike that long.
  6. Remake the XS650 twin or do a smaller TDM to compete with the 650 V-Strom. Hate to say it...but I do like the 650 V-Strom!

PJ1 Blue...it's The Daddy! 8) If you use anything else, then it means you've never tried it. And axl....you'll find that there's very little fling off with it. Don't use wax...it glues your chain up dibey. Truse me on this like with the Silkolene recommendation....it's the best!
  8. Saarinen is top of any list mate! 8) But again it's a generation thing. If you're not old enough to remember The Baron then you have no means of evaluation. But I tell you something...next to Saarinen....Hailwood was the man. He'd have destroyed them all....Rossi is very good indeed, but he's no Hailwood. And he's certainly no Saarinen.
  9. Have you told the old man that you haven't listed Saarinen Alan? Please go tell him now and get ready to duck! 8)

  12. .....is something that you all need to embrace. 8) I've said it before and I'll say it again...not all oils are created equal. Every bike that I've ever put Silkolene in, has always shown a major improvement. That's why it's the ONLY oil I'll use! I changed the XT oil and filter yesterday and of course it was replaced with Silkolene semi synth. It previously had Castrol GPS in it (put in by the dealer) and as you know, that's also a quality oil. But I took the XT for a 60 mile run today....and what a difference! Smoother, quieter, felt a totally different bike. I know you're going to say that any oil and filter change will make the bike run better, and to an extent that's true. But bear in mind that it was replacing Castrol GPS that had only been in there a month, and only done 1200 miles. So it's not as if there'd been any great deterioration in the oil. You don't have to take my word for it.....next oil and filter change, put Silkolene in. Then tell me if I'm wrong. 8)
  13. One man....light years ahead of the rest! 1. Jarno Saarinen 2. Mike Hailwood 3. Kenny Roberts 4. Mick Doohan 5. Valentino Rossi

Just remember to lift slightly and then roll back. I prefer to leave bikes on centre stands rather than side stands.
  18. Pete replied to liquidcooled's topic in The Bar
Not sure Alan....I think weight is the problem with centre stands. Bloody Divvy was murder.

I'm sure the KLR has a centre stand, don't think the others do though.

Changed the oil and filter on the XT. What a hassle. Dry sump job....never done one before. And there was a crank drain plug, frame drain plug, cartridge oil filter job too. Managed to belch the old oil out of the frame drain plug onto the front tyre too. After you refill with oil you have to check the dipstick in front of the tank. Not so easy with no centrestand, then you've got a bleed screw in the oil filter housing that you have to check for oil flow. Still it's done now at 2750 miles and runs a lot better on the Silkolene than the Castrol that was in it. Next change will be 4000 miles which should be at the end of the Summer.

  22. "Slick" is the word you're struggling to find Alan!
  23. I don't agree with that. 8)
  24. Oil and filter change today. 2750 miles and new OE Filter and Silkolene 10w-40 semi-synth. The Silkolene lifestyle is something that you mullets should aspire to! 8)
