But I tend to do different type of roads on the XT....which may not be ideal for sportsbikes. Your old man will remember them Alan. They were laughed out of motorcycling years ago, in spite of the fact they kept you 100% dry and very warm. :roll: But they're still sold in outdoor shops now...quite pricey I think, but they do last a lifetime. These are mine...bought them in the mid 70's and STILL going strong. Don't come out often these days though.

Tell you what Alan, even though DerriBoots were the object of much derision, I still haven't found a warmer, drier boot. If I ever have to ride in the rain (very rare these days) then the Derriboots come out of the cupboard. Still going strong at 30 years old!

Here's some more to remember: Dunlop K70's, Avon Speedmaster, Kangol Gladiator, Nolan Guardsman, Griffin Clubman, Derriboots (still got an original pair), flares getting caught up in the kickstart, TwoFour humped seats, young bimbos waving to every bike! The Golden Era of motorcycling though! 8)

Really pissed down Alan....we ended up driving down near Llandovery and the roads were awash down there too! :cry: Saw about 3 or 4 bikes all afternoon, instead of about 3 or 4 hundred. Could have down with a nice run today as well.

I can well believe it Moz....the Lambretta had more of a pose image, but the Vespa's were a lot quicker. No Lambretta ever outrun me on the SS180, including GP225's....provided I managed to stay on it!

All that stuff is very popular today...that SS180 I had would be worth big money as it was the performance model of it's time. When I rode that, I hit the floor more often than Richard Dunn when he fought Ali!

Moz...tell your mother that I passed my test in 71 on a Vespa SS180. She'll be impressed that you move in such circles! 8)
