Oh yes....it really was something else wasn't it? Mind you I reckon the Munch Mammoth and Hesketh thing in the 70s gave it a run for it's money.

Yeh....they worked that poor cunt to death! Suzuki were so bad to him that he tried to defect back INTO the Iron Curtain!

It was originally MZ Blue. Suzuki stole their paint as well.

The significance of the colour scheme seems to be lost on you wannabe's doesn't it? I understood straight away what the guys were trying to do. For you to start whinging about the colour scheme is equivalent to joining a Kawasaki forum and complaining you don't like Green.

My fault entirely....I didn't have my mind-reading head on yesterday. 8)

I've resized your pic Axl, and put it in the Gallery. Max is about 600 width otherwise you distort the board.

April 1973, and recently bought a new GT380. Went out about 6 in the morning on my own and rode round the Brecon Beacons running it in. It was the first time that I'd had a reliable bigger bike (a GT380 was considered a big bike in those days) that was capable of going any distance without mechanical failure. I was 18 and it felt like the world was now opening up to me. You have to remember that in those days the world was a much smaller place with no Internet, no mobiles, no 24hr live TV news etc....so it was quite an experience. Sort of a "coming of age" thing. And I was right, the world did open up to me...and I blundered straight in like a bull in a china shop. A few weeks later I met the girl who was going to be my first wife....and it all went downhill from there. Big Time!

Yeh the XT will stay....certainly I could do with more power cos I'm 2 up most of the time, but changing to something which is quicker will make me lose out on the other aspects of riding an XT. Pity they don't still make the Super Tenere really....they've still got a huge following in Europe.

Pictures? axl...you start a thread called "The bike I had" and you post that it don't work. But apparently the thread is not about a bike, it's about pictures. I see. It's all clear to me now. ](*,) So you can't post an image? Do this: Post the photo up somewhere on the internet like www.photobucket.com View the image on the internet, not on your computer. Right click on the image, Select "Properties" Hightlight the link to the image and "Copy" the image link. Come back to this site Select the "Img" button. Paste the link after the tag. Click the "Img" button again to close the tag. Job done.

Nice run out today. Ran into some guys on mega bikes who wanted to be shown back to civilisation. So I did.....via the mountain road! Some of these ten grand bikes are not too clever on real world roads you know! 8) BTW...Alan XT...was that you about 11.45 coming the other way on the Llangurig-Rhayader road?

I will be styling and profiling through Rhayader, Llanidloes, Machynlleth, Borth, Aberystwyth, Devils Bridge, and back via Elan Valley Lakes mountain road! 8) And XT Alan....I should be in Devil's Bridge cafe about 2pm.

Had a look around nothing fits the bill. The V-Strom looks like a road bike to me....and it's a Shitzuki. The Transalp appears to be underpowered and have oil consumption issues. I'm amazed at that cos I've owned 12 Hondas and not one of them has ever used any oil. Kwak don't make anything, and tbh I really don't think they're interested in their Motorcycle Division any more. So....the XT is staying where it is. Now if Yam introduced a 750 V-Twin adventure tourer that would be just right.

Can't stand tattoos as you know Moz....and besides that she's a bloody skank. So she'd have no chance! 8)

David Jones has got a V-Strom there now. Did you consider one Alan? BTW...there's a rumour going round that Kawasaki are going to produce a V-Strom clone next year as part of their "partnership" with Suzuki. Anybody heard about this?
  25. Well it's starting! 27% down on last year! More than 26,000 new registrations down on this time last year! Massive drops in all categories....except Dualsport/Adventure Tourers....only 8 sales down. http://www.mcia.co.uk/_Attachments/149_101CMS.pdf
