  2. Hey, did you ever find an exhaust? im currently looking for one for my XJ600n, theres doesnt seem to be much about does there :/ i have seen a few systyems but there not sports/race ones
  3. deffoo, i have a set of BT45's on my bike, that i just put on and they are so much stickier than the previeous dunlops i had on the bike. i was wanting pirelli speed demons, but they were taking to loong. ride carfully for the first 100 miles then boot it !
  4. same with me ! haha although i've not yet had a chance to let rip on someone on here . .
  5. Hey everyone, whats your plans for this weekend ? We ( in aberdeen ) have had a streak of beutifull weather and i cannot wait to finish work and drive the 60 miles back up north to go home. my Gf's birthday this weekend, so i dare say im going to have to spend the whole weekend working on the bike, and giving it a good well-earned clean and polish . . . .might be single by monday . . .
  6. also, has anyone ever seen or used one of that exhaust can covers / bolt on heat shields ? one of them would probs tidy the bike up and hide the scuffs. . .
  7. Hi Guys, Wondering if yous can help me . . Im looking for a new exhaust system for my bike as the silencer i have on is beat up to bits and leeking where it joins the down pipes. only problem is, i dont know what i currently have on, to be able to buy a new exhaust that fits. It has a 4 into 1 systyem, rather than the origonal 4 into 2 but the silencer doesnt have any branding or numbering on it that i can see, ( might have to rip it off and have a good look ) has anyone else got a 4 into 2 on their bike ? and what kind of can do you have on it ? i was thining if i can find out what i have on at the moment it would be easier to get a link pipe, and then buy a slip on can. . if not i'll have to replace the whole system which is looking like it will be about £350 - £400 any help/suggestions would be appretiated ! im at work at the moment, but will upload a photo or two when i get home. cheers Matthew
  8. True that - i was 18 with 2 years ncb when i got insured on my XJ600N for £340 fully comp, my suggestion would be choose another bike for your restriction, what the point on havign a bike with the power of a r6 when its restriced to 33? :/
  9. is there any reason why you are wanting to get a new/next to new bike ? when i was 18 and passed my test i had 2 years ncb, one from a scooter, and another year from my 125 - i picked up a 1997 XJ600n in pretty good nick for £700 my insurance was £340 fully comp - plus as your 18, you need to get your bike restriced, often theres bike advertised selling with restricors on them. . . i would suggest getting a slightly older bike, and waiting a few years till your restrictions done, you have a few years ncb and you are a bit older - then get the bike newer bike . . . thats what im doing hope this helps - i might have been a bit late in repyling mind you

    R6 v XJ600N

if its your first "big bike" i wud suggest the XJ, i have one - its comfy, not to sluggish an sounds good. aslo, think of insurance - my cj was £900, a 1997 model in perfect nick, and i got insured on it on my 18th birthday for £320 fully comp . . pretty cheap considering i just passed my test a few weeks before !
  11. Recently MOT'd my XJ600N and to my shock ( haha!) the tires were on the limit. Anyone in the area recommend best place to get new ones ? i was thinking about Bridgestone BT 45's but maybee settle for something a bitty cheaper in this cold, miserable, money tight times . . mind you . . could allways just forget the girlfriends valentines present . . . Got a quote for £152 for Pirelli's . . guy said speed demons, but im thinking 152's a bit cheep for them ? Cheers Matthew
  12. Hey there, Anyone in the Aberdeen area be able to help me out with a few tools, hex keys ect, to change a brake lever? only a simple 5 mins job, Cheers Matthew Duncan
  13. unfortunatly it was a bit to far away for me :-/ if i lived in England i would have been though
  14. hi guys, just wondering if anyone else was at the grampian motorcycle convention on sunday ? what a beautiful day it was, even got to meet guy martin !
  15. ahh okay there back up today woop
  16. All my posts seem to have dissapeared :S when i go to profile > posts its empty . . same with when i go to My content anyone got any ideas ?
  17. its a 175, and i know . . im not expecting ether of them to ride like the wind tbh, but i must say i like the looks and sound of the bantam better. after sitting in the garage for several years, he put some fuel in, spark plugs back in, primed the carbs, gave it a few slow kicks just to get the fuel moving through the engine.. and it then started on third kick so, dont think startng will be a problem
  18. riding a pushbike ? he's got a BSA winged wheel aswell dont fancy that thow :L
  19. So, My insurance has came through for my XJ600N, hoooraa ! was reading all my information that came with it and it appears that my policy coveres me (third party) for driving another bike, (as long as its insured by someone) Was speaking to my old man about it, and he suggested he got his 2 BSA's on the road to go for a few trips this year, and same again next. so, what one should i ride ? The Bsa B40, or the Bantam D5? anyone got any encounters with any of these bikes ? i can remember sitting on the back of the b40 since i was just tall enough to reach the foot pegs
  20. big box arrived for me today ! i am actaully rather impressed with them the leather doesnt look too bad, and it had a 5 piece CE approved armour protection set. Stitching also looks. only draw back is the jacket i got is to small. Another set back i had is that they took a while to deliver to my address, as its highlands and island. But because of this, they have offered to pay the cost to return them think i might change design to this redbull one http://shop.ebay.co.uk/gbr.store/m.html?_trkparms=65%253A12%257C66%253A1%257C39%253A1%257C72%253A5251&rt=nc&_ipg=25&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14.l1581&_pgn=2 ....purely just so i dont look stupid when wearing them on another bike thats not a yamaha.
  21. well, it was my 18th party at the weekend . .. so apart from getting miserable, my weekend was about the same as yours
  22. i had a tackle at doing some of my wiring on my project Moto Guzzi V50II. . . got the starter moter turning when starter is pressed - the diamagram in my manual is pants, and its pretty much needing a whole new wiring system :/ good luck !
  23. aye some of the roads here are a treat know what you mean about trying to get the bike up, my old mans got a pan european st1100, i can remember a few years back him asking me to put it on the centre stand . . .that was bad enough !
