  1. after taking the carbs off to clean, i put them back on with a little help from some duck tape, due to one of the inlet manifold rubbers disintegrating . . .only 6 quid so not to that bad - untill realised pretty much all the rubber parts need replacing ! 6 of them alone just for the airbox :-/ on the plus side - think i managed to get the wiring sorted working on getting her firing tomorrow
  2. haha, i planning to stick this in as it'll be my first bike fully done by self, since i was about 14 i've been out in the garage helping my old man restore or maintain his bikes, last one i worked on was a Trumph Trident 750, think it was abotu 1970's so T 150 maybee? nae sure. so far it has been great fun - shame about the loom being like spaghetti ! haha hopefully get some progress this weekend and get some more chapers up on the forum . . if i dont get it doen before my restrictions over, dare say i'll be taking dads Honda ST100 out for a cheeky wee spin or 2 quick flick through google images - think it was around 1975 ish
  3. Loom added as far as we can according to the wiring diagram in the trusty "bible" ( owners manual ) that came with it, point out to clean/replace and we noticed that one of the screws was missing half its head . . battery connected to loom, and emergency jump starter powering the battery - and she sparks ! next step, hopefull for this weekend will be to get pretty strong sparks, put a wee drop fuel into her barrel and try to get her to cough might even assemble the airbox and carbs, but still need to get some rubber parts Enjoy ! - more pics and updates coming soon hopefully
  4. Assembly Begins - back end assembled, before attaching the bottom half of the frame bottom frame and starter motor added nae, need for a stand, trusty paint tin does the job rest of frame added and bolted on panels added just for a cheeky look now just to get her sparking
  5. Now that i have worked out how to put pictures up, thought i would share my project ! 1982 Moto Guzzi V50 Mk 3 . . not a yamaha, but i think its gonna be a wee while before i can take this out for a spin instead of my XJ ! haha Costs so far - £50 for the bulk of the bike - bought from a friend, £260 for new drive shaft + rubber plan is to firstly get her roughly assembled to the point where we can fire the engine and run through the gears to check she works, before stripping down, and building her up to factory spec as i got her . . First thing to do, was to check the clutch, as we suspected that the internals were missing, Thankfully it was there, just a bit stiff - with some gentle persuasion, got it moving again . . . . note the shiney, polished rocker cover, thats the bulk of what the previous owner done . . New Drive shaft Arrived ! - nice and shiney all the way from Italy Time for some assembly
  6. there ! finally got the pic up haha
  7. i've nae seen it make much of a difference here in aberdeen, although i did fill up my *cough* 20L *cough* jerry can just incase
  8. aryt, sounds good ! we can see if we can get a few people out looked up that road on google maps. . looks a fine ride
  9. well, atm my bikes restricted so i only have 33 horses to play with :/
  10. After fitting a new chain to my bike due the the previous one exploding, i checked the sprockets and reacon they could do with some new ones, according to all the service recipts, parts recipts and diarys i got from the previous owner . . it would appear that the ones on the bike are the same ones that were on when it left the factory 24000 miles ago. . question is, what should i get ? my choices dor both sprockets are stock, one more tooth, or a tooth less. if i was wanting to gain a bit more power ( quicker acceleration ) what would i be best changin ? front sprocket extra tooth, rear sprocket on less tooth and so on so on . . also, what kinda affect would that have on my top speed ? Help would be appretiated, Matthew
  11. after seeing this post this morning, i went and checked my brakes and according to front brake brakedown in the haynes manual, im missing the "Pad Springs" but the diagram doesnt have shims unitll i look at the breakdown of the rear brake . . how would i get these springs? yamaha dealer ?
  12. 29 Seconds . . . i dont think the back wiper is gonna help her. lets hope she gets banned and thats the raods slighty safer for bikers
  13. i have a simeral rattle with my XJ600n, single disc model . . you can only contact a dealer and see what they say. If not, doo a quick google for bike breakers, theres usually a good few XJ6n's getting broken for spares. Matthew
  14. i feel everything i wanted to say has allready been said . . speciall the pouint that YPVS TONE mentioned. garauntee it wasnt him that bought that bike. idiot.
  15. Hey Guys/Girls, Since were getting blessed with all this good weather atm, any one in the Aberdeen area fancy meeting up for a wee ride, and a bite to eat ? Im pretty new to the area and would like to get to know any "good" biking roads around here - and also meet some fellow bikers in the area. nothing planned as yet, just trying to see what kinda interest this gets then possably arrange something for sat or sunday Cheers, Matthew

  17. yeah, think it mustav been worn pins, it hadnt reached the stretch limit. . . . also, nor do i like being shafted got a new one fitted, checked the sprockets. . . there not as bad as the ones i had on my 125 when i sold it . . . but come friday ( PAYDAY! WOOO ) think i may invest in a new set. Anyone got any preferences on make ? just something mid-range not wanting to part with tooo much money
  18. also, its allways good to intruduce your-self, then more people will be happy to advise you !
  19. 1) is it happening in just that gears or you having troubles gettin it into all of them ? i had a similar problem with my xj600n, but it was doing it for all gears, turned out the sproket cover was a wee it to tight at one side and was making the shifter stick.. 2) i would suggest ether arrow or something from ixil silencers, one of my mates got one and it has a nice note. leovince cans are apparently really nice aswell so, just personal preferences i guess . . . when getting an after market can, allways check with the manufacturer to see if you need to make any changes to your bike such as jet's and stuff like that. Matthew
  20. Hi Tracy, just wondering if you had anyluck changing detail ? im about to try with ym bike as when i was cleaning it, i noticed there was the Datatag marked on to the front mudguard
