Hey Guys, Im new to this forum. I posted an intro in the newby section. Just picked up an 82 maxim 400 in pretty decent shape. Needs a few things but otherwise im a pretty happy guy. The bike came without side covers and a cover for the air filter. The filter is exposed and i was wondering if its critical to have that covered to operate? Im having alot of troubles finding any parts for this bike. Thanks for any help Steve

Hey Just signing on from North Vancouver, BC. I recently picked up 1982 Yamaha Maxim 400 in pretty good condition. Its my first street bike and im pretty excited to get started on it. Everytime I get a toy I always try to track down a good forum cause there is endless amounts of knowledge to be had on here. I have a couple questions right off the bat about the bike if anyone doesnt mind helping out. I bought it without side covers and a cover over the air filter (left side). So the air filter is exposed, is it critical to have that covered before riding? Im having alot of trouble finding any parts for this bike? Also where would I go about finding a repair manual?
