  1. I used to have one of them, looking good, all you need is the belly pan for it.
  2. My classic has pegs so as already said you just need to find some and swap over. Mine also came with the exhasut drilled by a previous owner, have no idea how long its been like it but not had any problem with it at MOT time, it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference in noise until its opened up, but maybe thats the same with the stock un-drilled setup.
  3. A 6 sided socket is your first stop, you may have to tap it on with a hammer, and then you need a long enough bar to shift it. My company manufacture steel nuts and a bad fitting 12 point socket can take the corners off easily, if the 6 point does not work I would either start looking at extractors or grind 2 flats to accept a good quality spanner.
  4. +2 to 95 octane... Had a similar thing with my imported Subaru, previous owner running on 98 when it didn't need it. And again just a good quality wax polish, I use turtle wax, and only use the Solvo for rust spots. I am planning on trying the ACF50 stuff this winter as well.
  5. Hi and welcome Not done the F1 sidecar thing but used to do classic sidecar when I was a lot younger, Cadwell park was the favourite, 70-80mph was scary enough sitting on basically a plank of wood with a couple of grab rails...
  6. Hi I have a 650 dragstar classic due to haveing just sat on one while mooching round a bike shop during a brief stay in Skegness with our motorhome, mind you I passed my some 30 years ago when I was 17 so was lucky that way. Enjoy the bikes, enjoy the riding, thats what its all about to me.
  7. My 1998 Classic has pegs not boards, same colour as Leatheratts old one, will have to get some pics up soon.
  8. There was a cruiser parked in Aldi's car park in Market Harborough recently with a sidecar, think it was a Susuki 800. And then later in the day a load of cruiers came through some solo, some with chairs and a couple of the big boys with trailers.
  9. As said, if you are going to ride your bike you will struggle to keep it perfect, I have recently got a 1998 XVS650 and its obviously been molycoddled for most of its life, only 6,000 on it and very shiney, I will try my best to keep it in decent condition but its also going to get ridden when ever I can. All you can do is touch up or re-spray as you feel you need to.
  10. Very good, think I am going to enjoy it here, have fun, signing off now, and thanks to all for the help. Home brew is a calling.
  11. Yeah exactly like that, I have now got it where I think its about right and yeah the brackets are actually touching the yoke, angled the same as the forks, so will give it a try tomorrow as already on the cider... I think a couple of cable ties may stop it moving with the wind pressure. Thanks for your help.
  12. Looking at past posts my screen is like yours, it clamps to the handlebars, I am 6'1 I have just got it as low as it will go in line with the rake of the forks but the black edge trim still seems too much in my line of site, I am going to see if moving the bar clamps more to the center gives me a bit more drop. Thanks
  13. To be honest Iam also considering takeing it off and see how I get on, as I am returning to bikes after a few years with out one the screen that came with the bike just seems to be in my way.
  14. Haveing gone through all of this section I wondered if Leatherat would be the man with the answer, just getting me spanners out ready.
  15. My dragstar has a windshield fitted but I need to set it up to suit me. I realise I need to see over it as looking thruought it does not feel right. Any tips on best angled, height etc. To get the best results from it
  16. I already have some of those connecters on the EvilBay link from when I use to have Tamiya Radio controlled cars, so will do a bit of soldering later and all will be sorted. Cheers
  17. Think thats going to be the way forward then, cheers gents.
  18. Hi Yeah that is similar to the one I have, it also came from Maplins, it has a cigarette lighter socket plug on the end and I was thinking that I could run a female plug from the battery into the storage compartment so I would just have to plug it into that when needed. Thanks
  19. Hi As the title says I am thinking about a trickle charger to keep the battery charged up when it comes to the more winter type weather, as at the moment I am using regularly anyway, the bike has an alram so I am sure I am going to need something come the winter. Was wondering if any one had tried one of those small solar panels that are designed to keep a battery topped I had one that I used in an old Volkswagen Type 2 van due tot the alarm and the radio memory draining the battery in about two four weeks and that worked ok for that, not sure if it would work for a bike? The problem I have with a plug in charger is that to get electricity to where the bike is kept is going to mean an extension lead of getting an electrician to install me an outside socket. Thanks
  20. Not needing to do this with my bike but on the wheels of my motorhome I used Jenolite rust converter ( I also use this as flux when I am soldering) and having tried a few steel wheel colours in the past I opted for Platicote Chrome spray, its not a bright as proper chrome but it is a much brighter finish that any of the silvers I have tried.
  21. Nice looking Classic, but I would say that as its the same colour as mine. Those panniers look smart, what make are they? mine came with some but they are a lot plainer than those.
  22. From what I have read the Classic is about 30kgs heavier, the front wheel is I think smaller diameter but fatter, and it has a slightly higher seat than the Custom. I started off looking at the Custom and the Classic but after seeing a few I realised I prefered the Classic so made the decision to get one rather than get the Custom and try to turn it into a Classic. If we all like the same thing it would be a very boring world.
  23. Yeah it does seem like a strange swap looking back, but at the time it sort of made sense as my job changed to working shifts and I had a 40 mile round trip commute, and the RD was a good (screaming two stroke) bike but even though the Honda was slower it made the journey easier in the middle of the night in the winter.
