Finally got the front brake sorted last night and now its working like a dream, not sure stoppies are on the cards tho with her fat ass. Gunna finish off some little bits and bobs this week end and might even fire her up later today to get some warm oil pumping round her as i've only been turning her over by hand for the past few months so that she doesn't freeze up. Theres so little left to do now, its all getting very exciting
  2. I would suggest getting them powder coated, much tougher than paint and lasts/looks better than Chrome. I had a quote to have mine done at my local powder coater for £120 for both front and rear. then at Talon they quoted me £250 for stainless steel spokes, fitting and trueing up. so for £360 you will never ever have rusty wheels again! O and i know how to spoke the xvs wheel so if you wanna save money then im happy to do the spokes for you and then its just a case of paying Talon £20 to true it up.
  3. I think a red neck on XXXX moon shine and an Arc welder could have done a better job
  4. Warm Apple pie gets me feeling fruity.
  5. That is um.................shocking! Who the heck would buy that? I'm pretty sure even the scrappy will reject that ha ha

Should i have the Master cylinder cover on at this stage till the fluid starts to come out? Dumb ass question but im about as smart as cledus from the simpsons at the moment
  8. Another note, make sure your chain is lubed up properly (should be fine till your first service) but if you wash it before its service then you will need to lube it up. very easy to do: buy chain lube stick bike on center stand so rear wheel is off the floor put a sheet of news paper behind the chain so you dont get lube on rear wheel and floor spray lube on chain rotate wheel to next bit of chain repeat steps 4-5 til chain is lubed NOTE: some chain lube is a liquid than turns into a gel so that it gets into all the links in the chain sodont go mad other wise the chain will splatter shit all over your nice clean bike when you ride it. Also as part of your pre rider checks in the morning, before you start the bike up turn the ignition on take it off the stand, pull in the clutch and kick it into first and rock it till she rolls freely. you may feel a clunk as the clutch plates free up, as bikes use a wet clutch (clutch plates are submerged in the motor oil) over night they stick together so if you dont do the morning rock your sit on the bike half asleep, start her up pull the clutch in and kick her into gear and she will leap forward cut out and you may get the opertunity to drop her. Apert from those little things your be fine due to the servicing etc, once they are over and you take those tasks on for your self then a little more bits and bobs your have to do. Buy a Haynes manual and a load of metric sockets spanners and a good set of screw drivers and alen keys for your basic tool kit but seeing that your already a vehicle tech you most likely already have all these. Keep your eyes open on the road and treat everyone on the road as a wanker and keep a good distance between them and you and stay alert at junctions. But most of all enjoy it.
  9. There are a few things that you can get to sort out performance etc some are cheep and easy to fit some are expensive and easy or hard to fit. First thing i would do is change the sprokets and chain. you can do a set up for either acceleration which will decrese your top speed or do a set up for top speed but loose acceleration. nice and cheep and will take about half a day to do. Next you can fit an aftermarket exhaust expensive but easy to fit if the bolts aren't too rusty. and also fit a K&N air filter these two mods will help the engine breathe better thus giving a bit of a performance boost (might be 1-2hp) Next a power commander, quite pricey but will give you the chance to get her running at top performance but you will need to get her on a rolling road with a mechanic to set it all up all in all you with all those mods and a good Dyna run you could gain 5-10hp with just those mods plus better top end speed or acceleration depending on what sproket set up you go for. BHP figures i've given could be complete tosh so take with a pinch of salt.
  10. They are nice, but im not sure if your just going to be looking at your elbow all the time and will have to take your hand off the bars just to see behind you.
  11. Come on Kate why won't you post it for? Surely DHL can deliver it for a tenner
  12. I've got a single converted bar end mirror on mine nice and small and black. You can get the under bar ones just look on e bay but make sure the thread is the same as the one on the matter cylinder. Loads out there mate just keep searching.

Ha ha yer I know mate still got last week's on at the mo, trick is to catch them in the morning as they crawl down the stairs. Started bleeding the front brake tonight but I think I'm missing a trick or some thing. I drained the whole system even the caliper, so put fresh dot4 in the master cylinder and pumped it till no bubbles came up from the bottom but after 20 mins of pumping I'm still not getting any oil out of the bleed nipple?? Do I just keep going or am I missing some thing?
  14. Looks like a cracking day out. Nice One.
  15. Could you not keep it and rent it out as a holiday home to folks that want a cheep holiday? get some colaterol back in your pocket? you can get so much more money back in rent than just flogging it out right. Plus you still have a place in France to stay if you had time to get out there but atleast your not loosing money. Good luck with the sale tho and hope you get some dollar back.

Only a small bit done tonight as after a 11hr stint at work I couldn't be fooked to do much. Will finish off the wiring tomorrow I think if not I'll be fixing the washing machine.
  17. Ahh i see, i check him out. Can he do any thing you want tho?
  18. I "think" some time this year they are doing away with displaying tax discs all together as the police can check to see if your TAX insured and MOT'd via the ANPR system so atleast we dont have to buy a new tax disc holder every year as the ally ones rot / brake all the time. But its still a piss take that we produce less Co2 than most cars yet still get slammed with paying more tax yet we do less damage to the roads and help reduce congesgeon congestion screw it you all know what i mean.

Yer i had loads of time, i cant see how it takes woman the same amount of time to get washed dressed and tarted up as it does to fit a rear wheel, pump up the rear wheel with foot pump to 45PSI, bolt the rear wheel to the frame, find the trolly jack, lift the bike up, remove the axle stands, lower the bike, remove bike from shed, turn the bike around, have a smoke, sweep out shed, move tool chest, sweep some more crap out, replace bike in new possision, sit and have another two smokes and then go have a shit shower and shave. Stupid women.
  20. Where abouts did you get them reflective stickers too? look cracking on the stantions.
  21. Dragging up old posts of a one hit wonder too.
  22. Looks like someone has just turned a luggage rack into a seat, very clever but looks crap and as airhead said where does the extra pillion put there feet? stupid idea
  23. A good decent bike chain will do the trick for both locking the bike to the ground anchor and you can take it out with you to lock up when you park up.

Well last night before me and the wife went out to a party and she was up stairs getting ready I snuck out side and pulled her out the shed and turned her around so I can now get better access to finish off the rest of the bits and gave the shed a good mucking out with the yard brush. Still got a bit more wiring to do then it's all just little stuff to do like bleeding the brake, put oil in the shaft drive, exhaust wrap, fit rear mud guard, number plate bracket, rear light, indicators and that's about it I think.
