  2. I'll have a look at that link later on Tom as im on my works PC and Ebay is the DEVIL here and is banned, a mate at work is also lending me his old fireblade shock to see if that fits but till i get the thing on saturday its all just dead in the water and all i can do is read the new haynes manual i got through the post last night. O and as for the baby name sorry but we have already got a much MUCH cooler name than Tommy
  3. Good to hear that there was something on that spare motor to get you going. Yer dont do nothing to the bike now bar put fuel in it and air in the tyres!

DIRTY BOY!!! Normally its foamy to drop the sex bomb first tommy, but im not disagreeing with you tho haha
  5. I was going to say that the Anode looks a bit small tho, either that or the gap is quite wide???
  6. Read a spark plug? thats gotta be one shit bed time story or you get really bored when taking a dump
  7. Ok cool i'll look into them. I would do the whole ridgid frame and sprung seat but i think i will let Betty be the one to give me a tender ass.
  8. Well I'll be picking the xj up this Saturday and found out that its a 1996 diversion S. Only problem i have at the moment is that it has no rear shock and trying to find one less than £100 is proving very hard indeed. Rang 3 local breakers yards and they cant even find a single shock any where even ones over £100. Do any of you know if any other bikes shock will fit at all?
  9. These are brilliant! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9X829Tdcr6Q
  10. Sadly (so i learned the other day) the XVS classic has metal mudgaurds and the custom has plastic ones so unless you are going to swap them over there isn't much you can do to lighten it. unless it has got panniers, sissy bar and rack, spot lights or any other tat, take it all off and stick it in the loft for when you sell the bike on.
  11. If your just doing the edges mate then this modern day paint is so crap all you need to do is get some 250 - 140 grit wet and dry and just sand it off. you will find any paint stripper will bleed under any masking tape and lift off paint you want to stay on. Yes sanding it down seams like a massive task but sit infront of the TV or listen to the radio and you'll soon be done.
  12. Scratch the paint with a wire brush, then a libberal amount of DOT4 will work. Nitromorse used to be great but they seam to have made it hippy freindly now
  13. I too am a Harley fan and will soon swap my belovid draggy for a HD but these XVS650 are so good at being the simple little machines as they are it will be very hard to see her go. Im 5ft 6, so i cant really say much on the height question, other that my mate (who is 6ft some thing) rode my Betty into town the other day and he said he loved it so i guess there's no dramas there. Commuting on a XVS650, well unless you throw away the stock seat and replace it with a thin bit of leather then these bikes are flipping great at slow speed, and keeping your ass tender free. the only thing these are NOT good at as a commuter is white lining in heavy traffic unless the cagers move out of your way to get the bars down the middle. As like most bikes the paint on the XVS and a HD isn't great so if left out side with no cover or other forms of rust prevention then you are going to be kicking yours self looking at flacking paint.

    New toy!

Oooo sexy!!! I would say thats just for the bike but id be lying haha. Cracking choice in bikes, I've always wanted a speed four.
  15. Looks as smart as James Bond in a tux at weatherspoons mate. Very nice indeed. Glad your ok after you little explosion on the old girl but least its more time in the man cave
  16. Here she is before the race. After, just about to eat Medal to say she's done it Proud yet grumpy nikki
  17. Well she's done it and in a very good time of 53minutes it actually took longer to get out of the flipping car park. Thank you to all of you that donated all in all she managed to raise £375.
  18. Not many bikes but thought id join in. XVS 125 Dragstar XVS 650 Dragstar XJ 600 Diversion (picking up next week end) Might sell Betty next year and get either a 1600 wildstar or a Hardly Moving Son
  19. All recieved mate, thank you very much. She's over the moon right now, i keep getting texts from her telling me to give her thanks to you all and she's very touched (not sure by who but he better be rich to pay for another bike or they can split up now)
  20. Just come across this site on a quick search and right at the bottom you have seat trim that clips over the top and can be either glued in place or rivited and they sell the seat trim rivets too http://www.hvccycle.com/seats-yamaha.html
  21. Hi Sogra welcome to the YOC, Love old Triumph cars i wouldn't mine getting a mk3 spit but the wife has control of the bank account after my bike build. I'll have a look to see how to fit these on my cheesy toast break in a bit but pictures may help us too
  22. Haha, yer i know mate but as we all know foamy cant see much through to the end, If i remember he still has a turbo to start work on she has decided to do a slow jog / walk on the day so as long as she takes on plenty of water then all should be grand. Thank you Jimmy
  23. So you have moved the clutch lever on the engine fully forward and the clutch then disengaged? sounds to be that the simplist and cheepest thing to do fisrt is to adjust the clutch cable up on the handle bar lever and on the adjuster further down the cable (mounted on the engine normally) i'd think about changing the cable too just incase it is stretched. The more costly / timely method is the only thing you can do after that as this will involve either changing the clutch plates (doubtful) or as DT50 said the pressure plate set screw needs adjusting
  24. Thanks you Airhead Well she has now set herself a target to finish the 5k in an hour only problem with that is we have just confirmed that she is 7 weeks pregnant with our second child so may have to walk this event now depending how she feels.
