    1980 xj650 maxim starting troubles, please help

    So to get my bike started I had to sometimes give the starter solenoid (sp?) A little slap, so I replaced it. Now that I have replaced it I have to slap it EVERYTIME to get the bike running. On top of that when I kill the ignition on the bike for some reason the starter starts winding and trying to turn, even with the ignition off. And comments would be helpful...

    Hello all, I'm a new rider from colorado, just bought myself a 1980 xj650 maxim. Lookin to meet some people who can provide a little help and advice when it comes to maintenance and repairs, its a 30 year old bike, stuffs gonna come up (already has, damn throttle cable). Look forward to chatting with some fellow scooter scum
