Fazer fz6
Hi, don't know any specifics about the bike but just like any other Jap machine as long as you look after it and service it regularly it will run for years. I personally don't think it's too much of a bike for a newbe , don't forget that it's you who is in control and not the bike, so as long as you're smart and take your time with it you'll be fine. Hope that helps mate.

Possibly buying R1...
Get the R1, I’ve had my for 5 years now and it's been used just about everyday for most of that time, including winter, it's never gone bad, the only thing I had to do was to change the battery, regular service and it will run for years. Long trips are ok, you can get about 120-150 miles from a tank if you're on motorways, body position is pretty good, I actually prefer it to the new bikes for some reason. Riding with a passenger is crap, I hate it personally but that's just me, saying that you wouldn't see me on the back of one of those, the sit is pretty small and hard.

More expense. the Joys of Motorcyles I guess lol!
I got a kit like this for my R1 but haven't put it on the bike as yet, as far as I know X rings are better and more durable then O rings, have a look, good price and quick delivery. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Yamaha-YZF-R6-99-02-...oQQcmdZViewItem Hope that helps.

slight vibrating from fz6
+1, as far as i know your engine is a de-tuned version of the R6, which means it does like to be revved up and used at the higher RPM range, usually the power comes in at about the half way up, if you really want to open it up try 6000-7000 revs and then give it some

kph to mph conversion
Hi mate, hope this helps 1. Turn the key to the on position 2. Press and hold the select and reset buttons at the same time 3. Continue to hold them for 3-5 seconds, it will change from MPH to KPH or from KPH to MPH It works for me on my 2000 R1 so it should work on yours.

1st trackday yesterday
Track days are amazing, I've done one at Silverstone and will defiantly do one or two this year, I’m trying to get my friend to come as well but he's a bit worried about destroying his 07 Kaw 636, may be we could somehow organize a YAMAHA FORUM track day, I’m in London anything not too far I’m down for.

R6 oil change
Hi, it's pretty normal for yams, the oil level sensors are very sensitive, make sure that the oil level is just under the top line in the window and it should be good to go. Hope that helps.

DUKE TO YAMMY
Good choice on the R1, I love the original red and white and yours looks pretty sweet, I’ve had my 2000 model for 4 years now and I absolutely love it, I use it every day, summer and winder and it never let me down, the only thing I had to change since I got the bike was the battery and that’s it, regular oil and filter change and it runs like a champ with 25000 miles on the clock.

R6 as first bike! Am i mad!
Sweet bikes you have there, take it easy and take your time to get use to them, if you're ridding in this time of the year give the tires plenty of time to worm up and don't be too crazy with the right hand. Roll on summer!!!!!

R6 steering damper
I would not ride a sport bike with out one, get one and you will not be sorry, my friend just got a Sprint damper for his 06 Kaw ZR6R and said he should have done it as soon as he got the bike, I've put one on as soon as I got my R1 and never looked back. http://www.sprintdampers.co.uk/

newbie on board
Welcome and enjoy the bike, I’ve been thinking about getting one of the new R1’s for some time now, it's an amazing machine but my 2000 has been so good to me for the last 5 years I don’t think I could see it go.

Does anyone know???
That looks custom made, I don't think you'll be able to just buy it of the shelf, plus it looks pretty bad in my opinion, espectially with that pipe coming from under the swing arm on the left. stick with the side can,
