ok i think there is some miss understanding as to what i was asking... there are any number of vids on youtube yes... but alot of people set there idle too low so it sounds like a HD burble, which isnt fast enough for a 650's oil delivery. was gonna set it to about 1200....setting the idle is easy, but with no rev counter i dont know if its going 1200 or 10 000, and with the aftermarket cans it all sounds differant aswell. i was asking if there are any vids of bikes on youtube with an aftermarket exhaust that people think sounds about right for a correct idle speed so i can set it by ear as noise says. if i take my hand off in 5th it will only engine breake down to about 23 then the idle speed of the engine is enough to keep it at that speed.....although i do infact have cruse control anyway cheers joe

odd question i know, never noticed with stock pipes but my vance and hines ones i really do, not sure if its been too fast the entire time or if not rejetting has caused it... or if im paraniod and its normal, which would be anoying..... i know there supposed to idle quite quick. but mine sounds stupid, it goes at about 23mph in 5th at idle anyway, does anyone know of a video on the tube of a bike with similar aftermarket pipes with it idleing at what sounds like the right speed, i dont mind setting it by ear im tempted to just get a rev counter for it cheers

your years of riding make me look like a child but thats just not true, i get taken the piss out of for how slow i ride a bike, i like cruuuuuuzing around, im not bothered about fast, and even i have had the pegs scrapping a few times, and i wasnt going that quick on either occation. if the boards that someone else fitted to a bike are fitted lower then the pegs should be, or they are wider, or both, then you could be scrapping them with ease it scared the crap out of me both times i did it, i dont like it on a side note, i also get ribbed for having compleatly unmarked knee sliders on my leathers.... on my vstar lol -

you could add a few bhb with new pipes, rejet, hypercharger and so on dont see the point really, if you have gixxer fine, but its never gona add much, and gaining a tenth round a track isnt really the point of these bikes yes you can get pegs instead of boards there are plenty of people on the tubeyou who have drilled it out, there are vids of people doing it, the main problem with it if you do it, is noone is gona buy the bike off you when you come to sell it, cirtanly wouldnt buy one like that although it does make it louder -

also, after swapping bikes with my mate the other day (gsx650f), my mate claimed my bike was too loud to ride, so its not just you i have noticed with the pipes that you can really hear how fast the idle is, im not sure if mine is too fast as everyone says that about these, i need to go down the ace cafe on a bike night and find some people with the same bike and compare ... or bodge on a rev counter -
i've had it at close to the ton, on the oem pipes, probably 90-95 real speed, pinned open, on a flat but when i got to a hill, not a very steep one mind, i just looses speed although this was trying to keep up with a guy on a 160bhp (rear wheel dyno) vrod and a guy with a 'only' 120 cubic inch s&s engine, considrablly more overloaded then in that picture.. thing brick with engine, i havent really givin it much of a run since it got home so maybe not overloaded it'll be better

yeah i only where earplugs cos of wind blast, not cos of my pipes, there nowhere n ear loud enough to need them a anything below 40 i live in london, so getting to 30 is often hard enough but i have a crap htc helmet....... its crap lots of people say that about earplugs, but i have to use them at work all the time so im used to it.... couldnt ride with headphones and music though, i would be dead withing 500 foot as for my pipes being e-marked, i never checked...... but ill have a look -
never thought i would say a 650 isnt powerfull enough for me,, i thought that was what d*** heads said showing off........ but it really isnt, it can hold 70 if its on a hill if i had the money i would swap it for the 950 in as heartbeat

i would never ride down the motorway without earplugs, ive made that mistake before, on my star and my ears are ringing anyway my er5 was louder and ive never been pulled and that had no baffle, even if i got pulled on my star its legal sooo... each to there own i guess, you can get db killers but i dont know how good they are -
i just fitted a V&H exhaust,..... have no pics of it though but i took this pic of it on my road trip
