  1. So, I reckon I'm up to about 800 miles since getting the Divvy. All's great with the bike and I'm pretty much all round chuffed with it. I'm mostly on 30 / 40 mile round trips but had a couple Edinburgh - Glasgow runs recently. I was over to Troon from Prestonpans at the weekend and on the return trip got thoroughly soaked. It was my first bit of proper wet riding and all was good, I was no in no hurry to test the limits of grip but sufice to say I didn't drop it and only had mild hypothermia when I got home... ...So, during my big ole Wet Ride my legs and hands got soaked. Hein Gericke jacket did the job for the top half but summer belstaf leather gloves and a pair of ebay trousers really weren't up to the job. All this got me to thinking about heated grips, all weather gloves and at least some good waterproof over breeks, (the ebay trousers may be piss poor in the wet but they are quite comfy). So, how do you all favour your weather gear? Or do you just not ride in the wet if you can help it? Also thinking about grip protectors or are they a bit too Moto? Hope yer all guid!
  2. Hey peeps, everyone had their fun of the nice weather? ... So I've had a wee look at the pinned chain page. Interesting stuff. Is there any way to see which chain is on my bike? I know it doesn't really matter if it's worn as it will need replaced anyway but I was just curious as to if I could find out if it X or O sealed or make.. Also heard some for's and against Scot Oilers, I'm all for just, *ahem* doing it by hand but been looking into an S.O. and wondering what yer thoughts are...?
  3. Ok, You know what, I'm a muppet - . I'm gonna check a few things out before I post the next time. Here's what it was... fuel. I think the bike must have been sitting for a wee while, it had been riden to empty and filled to full but this time I added some redex. I think some dirt was drawn into the carbs etc which, twinnd with being low on fuel mate the divvy quite unhappy. Going to carry on with a few checks as it's the right thing to do but it looks as though for now I'll be riding on. Woo!
  4. Well, at the side of the road again. just south of Jocks Lodge if anyone's passing..I was heading into Edinburgh andI had a bit of vibration whilst cruising so I down shifted and slowed and all was fine, I though it was actually the road surface. I pulled over and checked as much as I could and all seemed fine so I carried on my way. Bad choice. About a mile into town the bike got really rough and sounded like a bag of spanners then died. I put it into neutral and started it, sounded just as bad. So now I'm sitting in the lovely sunshine waiting for the RAC. I've just noticed some oil sepage from cycl 4 but other than that everthing seems fine. There was no smoke etc and the only thing I've done engine wise to the bike was top up a bit of oil. Which was probably a symptom of whatever has lead me to some impromptu sunbathing. Bollox.
  5. Hey folks, The divvy has got an M357t on it but not wired in, no fob, but I do have all the original documents and even fitting centre details, which is in London. Does anyone know of an authorized dealer or fitter / repairer in Scotland, preferably in the Edinburgh area? I've had a google about and can't find any definitive info. Thanks.
  6. Sorry!!!!! I meant to post that in the joke forum, obviously! Noob error...

    META M357T

Hey folks, Sorry if it's not the correct forum bit it is 'non' bike specific. I recently bought am XJ600n that's got a META M357T which is fully disconnected. The previous owner didn't even have the fob. Is it possible to refit the alarm by getting it reconnected and the fob replaced? The bike has also datatagged. Do I need to resubscribe? New to all the bike security so any input greatly appreciated. Cheers in adbance. C.
  10. Hey man, congrats. New to the forum and only recently passed my Mod2 by 2 weeks. Either our testers are way more lenient up here or the routes are easier cause it sounds as though you had a tough time on your 1st test. Well done though. Stay safe out there, hoefully our paths will cross!
  11. God damn politians, insurers, oil companies, tax man. I shall buy a small island and add a few small tarmac stretches with nice bends and luxurious straights - I shall call it trumpetdudeland and there shall be no road tax, no insurance, and no speed limits . Gotta bring your own petrol and beer though.
  12. Ciamar a tha sibh! Honestly though, my wife has more Gaelic than me though give a few weeks and I can probably get back to a decent 3 year old from Lewis level. Great to ifnd a fellow Scot on here. ciat mille Tapadh leat (s)... deary me I hope you're not proficient in Gaelic. Sorry.
  13. Hey Folks, Just got myself a 98 Divvy 600n in red (I've heard red ones go faster!). Loving the bike and itching to get the Jinlun sold so I can out on the new bike. Happily the bike appears to 100% solid and apart from a flat battery when I got it all seems to be good. While I'm at liberty to post in the noob section a quick question about the suspension in these bikes. Is it really supposed to be so soft! There's no leakage or anything just really, erm, couchy ;O) Anyhoo. If that's how it is, that's how it is. If it ain't broke etc... (learned that from my Audi ) SO. Looking forward to some cheerfull banter. C.
