  1. I'm gonna get me a signed Samurai, Signed MP5, Signed Chainsaw (by the world ice carving champion) and just to be safe, I'll sign my wife and station her by the door... she's trained.. and lethal...
  2. I'll just keep an eye out as I head west then... I'm not in favor of doing 45 on the M8 by myself, likely to end up as a road marking so if I see anyone I'll just tag on, though I will definitely be at Dreghorn (A720) at around 12.30 and will drive through west bound Harthill around 13.00...
  3. Signed... and forwarded the link forward to colleagues, friends and family & posted to FB. I'm working in Glasgow Sunday afternoon but will be heading from East Lothian at 12... anybody meeting up at Dreghorn (A720) / or Harthill (M8)...
  4. Was just wondering if there are any Yamaha perks, I know other forums sometimes get discounts for bit's and pieces vehicle related. I've also seen that Carrick Yamaha (Edinburgh) are doing a £79 winter service + 30 point check, obviously they're looking to get as much ££ out of a customer as they can but any thoughts on this? Cheers Cam.
  5. Hmmm. I don't think the light comes on when I switch on my Divvy... although mine is a bit later than yours (98 600N). Main thing is to keep an eye on the oil level through the sight glass. If you have a center stand check the level when it been up for a bit, in fact I usually check mine the day or before the next ride.. And congrats on not having any clutch rattle! Give it time )
  6. Performance problem...I took the shell off my racing snail to make him go faster but he seems more sluggish...
  7. Beyonce has just found out that Roy Castle was her real father, however, she has decided that she won't be using his surname.
  8. Hey mate. I'm about 6 months past my CBT (which was two years old) and learning everytime I go out on the bike. Ride confident but not like a twat. Feel the bike and the road, recognize balance and weight, how they shift and respond to throttle control and breaking. Your mirrors are your best friends. You might think just rolling off the throttle is fine for slowing down (but when some muppet is behind you doing 50mph and you're slowing down by rolling off your throttle and there's no brake light - he'll run into you) but be sure to feather the rear or front brake. Honesly, get some lessons sooner rather than later, I learned some valuable, priceless tips fromt my instructors. One, proffesional racer about counter steering (until you know, you just don't know) and the other intsructor saved my kneck on emergancy stops. Another more grim point is treat every other road user like they're trying to kill you. Not the chirpiest of hints but it does bring the fact that a strong gust of wind never mind a car could send you into a fence post. One more thing. Big bikes are WAAAY more easier to ride, especially on long journies. Stay safe and all said, it's way more fun than being stuck behind Radio2 at 8 am in the morning
  9. I recognise them road, spent 3 years bouncin up and down them in all weathers, in a car mind you. Itchin for a jaunt up there on the divvy. Ranoch moor is a desoalte place when the weather's just wrong but on a fine day it's heaven!
  10. Nice story mate... still a mech?
  11. Hey guys, cheers for the posts. The ride was pretty cool, if a bit soggy to begin with, M74 dried me off a treat! I had to take the motorway on the way down due to time constraints and I'd planned to come back up the A7 but as luck would have it everything ran late, still, the bike went like a dream - returned around 64mpg. Easy on 1 tank of fuel. I'll check out that B7076 as I'm doing the same run on Thursday, again, quick down but I should have more time on the way back up. Cheers Folks... I should be on the road by about 9am. A1 - A720 - M74 (to J20) - then B roads into Eastriggs... returning at around 12.. hopefully the B7076!
  12. All good points folks, I'm considering going to a better 'blue' bulb, used the phillips ones in my cars for ages, always been a marked improvement. I've had quite a few late night rides recently (midnight / 1am) and the main lamp ain't tht bad so I'll hang on the extra lights for now. I think, rapidly climbing to the top of my list is 1 piece rain suit, I'm getting rather fed up with soggy pants... money and time willing I'll get a set of heated grips. I managed to pick up a set of the mini bars for the divvy's engine 2nd hand. Bloke selling them said they had a we scuff on the left one... didn't get a picture before hand . The left one looks like is came off a stunt bike, still better than nothing. Looking for to my first real winter of riding, hoping that only ice and snow will stop me!
  13. is unable to change his avatar!

  14. Cool mate, seen them too but just not convinced on their longevity? Interested to hear on how you get on with them? Cheers.!
  15. It wintered all over me from Glasgow to Edinburgh today! So, been thinking about comfying up my Divvy a bit and ensuring it survives the winter as I plan to use it as much as possible. Here's what I'm wanting.. 1) Crash Bars, tempting fate maybe, but they do the job. 2) Heated grips - essential hand mod! 3) Extra lights - not sure about this but I'll probably be doing a lot of night riding. Main lamp on the DIvvy N is good but I could probably do with more. Thinking about something like this.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280525212643&category=25628&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619 I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has done this (I get the real impression that unless it's a cruiser or GS this is really uncool) how they got on with the wiring. Cheers peeps, how the hell did we get from spring to Autumn so damn quickley!
  16. Hope ya'll dont mind, (or even if it's allowed?!) I've shared this topic to Two Wheel Tarmac Terrorist on Facebook because I think this is one of the best subjects I've ever read on vehicle forums... and I've been on a few. Great stories guys and nice input from the novels to the one liners... Why did I get into bikes? Well... The short version is that my missus finally decided she wanted to get back into bikes about 4 years ago, her parents bought her a Jinlun 125-11 (seen in my garage) and I had the job of maintaining it. After a while I thought, if I'm spending all this time keeping the damn bike on the road I might as well be riding it, so just after two years ago I got my CBT and in April I got my license.. Like I said, that's the short version. I was never a biker at heart, I was always curious but was always sure I'd be wrapped round the side of a house within 2 minutes of getting on a bike when I was younger. My dad was biker when he was a lad, riding AJS's and BSA's around English country lanes when the only thing you had to worry about were cowpats, tractors and if you were going to make 'that' corner 'this' time, which one time he didn't, but he was ok, otherwise I wouldn't here just now! My dad got back into biking about 6/7 years and still has on old, fully fair BMW R80 - beast of a machine - he's 70 next year! Mum used to get driven to work on the back of my grandpa's old bike, I can't remember what it was needless to say that I do know that if it was still in the family it would probably be priceless.. My wife's parents are both bikers, her dad having everything through his youth from Bonnies to triumphs and yamaha's to harleys, (not all with a proof of purchase ). Changed times now as all parents are now part time leisure riders but I know they still itch for winding it on when they can. About 5 years ago, before my wife had got back into biking and I hadn't even considered it I had a horrific accident with a biker on the A82 (you all know it). I was in my car. Foreign national, wrong side of the road etc,.. I don't need to go into details other than he died. I've thought long and hard about this since I've got into biking and can't work out if it there's any relevance or if even it's driven me into exploring biking. I don't think directly it has. I got into biking because of the initial reason at the begining of this 'novel' but now it's becoming my main form of transoprt and I'm loving it all weathers! I do think it makes me think more caustiously when I'm riding, I've never been a fast, knee down rider and never will be, I just love just being on the bike. What made me get into biking, I think I knew I was missing out.
  17. Bummer man, I've got a bunch of 'winter' upgrades I want to do but for the same reason they may not happen until the spring! Good luck with it all. Wish I had the gut's to get stuck into something that is so invloved. Yer an inspuraishun!
  18. Hey folks, Had the Divvy since April and put almost 2000 miles on it. I know that's not loads but hey, you gota start somewhere! So I'm actually going from Prestonpans to Eastriggs. I've got to be a bit boring on the way down; A702, M74, a couple of wee back roads form junction 20 and then Eastriggs but I'm thinking of coming back up the A7 and cutting over to the A68. Not the longest or most exciting ride but it'll be my furthest to date. If anyone is out and about I'll be on the road from about lunch time.... and so far the weather looks good! p.s. hoping to do it on 1 tank of fuel!
  19. Love the last sentance mate... Nice updates too. Cheers!
  20. Cheers Mervin, Just had a check and the squeak ain't there anymore! Had a check on the wheel too and there's no play, not that I can feel anyway. The squeak noise definitely came from the left side(drive) spindle / hub area, sound like rubber against a painted area, rubber shoes on varnished floor just prolonged with rotaion of the wheel. The only thing I can think is that maybe a bit of moisture got on the rubbers down there (a bit of a damp humid run back last night) and caused the noise. I'm off to Glasgow again tonight, about a 100 mile round trip, I'll just have to keep an eye on it. Cheers.
  21. .....is the sound my rear wheel makes when rotated slowley whilst up on the centre stand. Hey Folks, I've check the wheel for play as best I can and it appears to be fine but I had just come back from Glasgow so I'll check again tomorrow. I've had a quick search for this type of sound it mostly points towards a bearing, any thoughts? If it is the bearing starting to go how far gone is it? I've changed a front bearing before but never attempted a rear. Hope it's not beyond my skills! Cheers in advance peeps
