  1. Awesome! Thanks for the info. The oil actually looked really good so I'm not worried about it too much, but I make take a swing at replacing it just for peace of mind. Cheers Ian
  2. hi there, I know there arent many yb100 owners lurking judging by the response to my previous topics (maybe I should be posting in the general mechanics section?) but here goes anyway. I removed my forks earlier today and laid them on the floor and I noticed oil came out the very top of the fork where the bolt usually sits. is this normal? I noticed there isnt a drain plug on the bottom so is it possible that they are just so dainty they just need to be flipped to be emptied and filled? when replacing I should be putting in 160ml of oil right?
  3. It is possible to replace the forks/triple crown on my yb 100 with something of a similar sized bike? If so, which diameters and lengths do I need to be aware of while sourcing replacements?
  4. Hey guys and gals. I'm trying to spruce up my new 78 yb100 and I have a couple questions about the wheels. What tires should I run? Looking for something grippy/sporty, not too concerned about looking vintage or rain performance. The wheels are pretty rusty and I was considering taking them apart, powdercoating and relacing them. I haven't done it before, but is that a job that is doable by a newbie? (not a complete dunce mind you). Thanks Ian
  5. Also, just to beef up my introduction, my name is Ian an I like on the west coast of Canada in Victoria. I'm into smaller displacement bikes because I started on Vespas an worked my way over to proper motorcycles. This is my second motorcycle, my first was a kz200 and I've owned about 4 Vespas all in different states of tuning. I like the cafe look which is what draws me to these late 70s flat top bikes, so hopefully this bike will be getting a little more handsome as time goes on .
  6. Thanks for the info guys! What size tires should I be looking/asking for on this beast? Any brands you guys recommend?
  7. Hi everyone, seems like there are more than a few small displacement yamaha owners here so I thought I would join up and see i I can get some help with mine. I'm picking up what I think is a yamaha YB100 on the weekend and it needs a few small things to make it a little safer on the road. first of all, can anyone tell me if I'm right about the model name? I've seen bikes similar to this call a whole bunch of different things so I want to make sure I'm getting the right parts for it. I'm in canada if that helps identify it. second, tire recommendations? third, where can I get brakes, carb rebuild kit, and fork seals? thanks!
