Pilot Power recall
Hey guys, just got Fastbike magazine and theres an article advising that anyone with a pilot power or 2CT, thats made in france and has a particular batch number could be dangerous !!! Unfortunately for me, my front tyre is one of the dodgy batch so i have to take it in for a new tyre ( which is good cos i recently replaced the rear......so new set of hoops for me) has anyone got any experience of this? check the Michelin website for more details if you think you could be affected too. Cheers and stay safe

Wheel rim stripes....good? bad?
Hey all, was thinking of putting some rim stripes on my R6 but was undecided on a colour. The bike is blue and white so obviously its gotta be one of these colours for the rim stripes. Im leaning towards white !! what say you? Bike pics here:- http://aolpictures.aol.co.uk/ap/viewHoo.do...color=%23000000 Cheers all, go away rain !!!

r6 exhast query
Scorpion cans are Dyno'd so you dont need to remap the fuelling etc.... so they say. I havent had any problems with mine, except that idle runs quite slow, almost like its gonna stall ! Take the baffle out.....give it plenty of squirt then drop a cog or two, close the gas and then have your mates comment on the flames from the can !!! looks cool

My 2003 R6
Hi All, Heres a few pics of my pride and joy.... done some cosmetic things like R&G protection, R&G tail tidy, Yamaha Double Bubble screen, LED indicators, Michelin 2CT's, and most recently a Harris exhaust Hanger and a Scorpion street extreme carbon can..... sounds like its going a squillion miles per hour while doing 60!!!! great. what do you think?? http://aolpictures.aol.co.uk/ap/viewHoo.do...color=%23000000

Questions 'a' plenty....
Hey there folks, Sorry, its been a while since i been able to post but just been catchin up with the posts for the past hour there...lots of very knowledgable guyz and galz out there. Was hoping for some advise.... Firstly, I got me some new Michelin Pilot Power 2CT's for my R6......feckin hell.. they are sticky !!! just put 200 miles on em last week to get them run in. however, I checked my pressures before the ride and they were a bit off I think. Does anyone know what the correct tyre pressures (cold) are front and back??? think mine are currently 36 front and 36 back.?? Also, just fitted me a new zorst......Scorpion Street Extreme Carbon !! mega short stubby can. looks and sounds fabulous. ( too loud to be honest, the neighbours aint too happy at all.....and thats with the baffle in !!!!) Its supposed to be dynoed etc so there should be no need to alter the fuelling....but my bike is running rough at tickover with the new can!! was thinking of just upping the idle speed a bit to see if that sorted it.....failing that I was thinking that a race air filter might help too? any suggestions? Gonna try and post a few pics of the bike as soon as the weather changes - its looking pretty good just now! Cheers all

Rad Fan running when bike stone cold ????
Hi Paul, Thanks for the response. Been away for a couple days. I just connected the battery there on the bike and the fan came on again ! its been a few days now since i washed it and it should have dried out now, dont you think? How would i go about changing the circuit to a live only? sorry Im not the most technically proficient bloke there is but I am willing to try..... failing that i could take the bike to my local mechanic!! ( might be the safest option ) Thanks Scott PS: Its a 2003 (injection model) Yamaha R6

Rad Fan running when bike stone cold ????
Hi people. went for a blast yesterday (was great) came home, washed the bike and put her in the garage all nice and clean ready for the next good weather day! A few hours later I heard a whining noise and traced it to the garage. !!! The Rad Fan on the bike was running but the bike was stone cold !! The ignition was off but i started it up and shut it down to see if this would maybe reset it. but No ! it was still running. I had to disconnect the battery to stop the fan running. Does anyone have any ideas why this happened? Im thinking maybe a dodgy temperature sensor??? I havent connected the battery again this morning to see if it still wants to run ( will do that soon ) maybe it was a short or something due to it being washed (pressure washer) !! I dunno ! any help as always would be appreciated. Cheers all and roll on the good weather

Dim indicators !! (can hardly see them flash)
DOH ! Im just stupid ! Thanks for the reply's people ! I should have had the bike running !! I guess the current forced through the bike is greater than from the battery alone.....the LED's are bright and flash correctly when the bike is running !! Cant beleive i didnt check that before! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Thanks everyone

Dim indicators !! (can hardly see them flash)
Hi all, hoping you can help me resolve a problem ! recently fitted some LED indicators to my 2003 R6 and all seemed fine! obviously they flashed like crazy as i hadnt changed the indicator relay but they did flash and they were mighty bright ! (as you would expect) however, and this is where it gets strange! I fitted a new LED relay to slow down the flash rate and it worked !..........the flash rate has dropped down to legal levels but you can hardly see them flash ?? its just a dim glow (had to turn the garage lights off to see them) Have i got a duff relay? or is it something else? I'm stumped! any help would be appreciated! cheers all.

Indicator conversions for 2003 R6
Hey guys (and gals) Looking to change the stock indicators of my bike to LED and I was hoping to gain the advise of anyone here who had already done so !! If anyone can reccommend a good supplier that would be great ! I found this one that looks ok. www.intobikes.co.uk ( sorry to mods if Im not meant to post web addresses ) I know for most LED conversions you need to use a different Relay but do I need two relays? (one for front, one for back) ?? sorry, probably a dumb question !! Cheers all. PS: anyone in Scotland going to the Scottish Motorbike Show at Ingleston, Edinburgh in March ??

Why men dont get Agony Aunt letters printed...
Dear Abbey, I've never written to you before but I hope you can help me with a really crucial decision ! I have suspected for some time now that my wife has been cheating on me. The usual signs are there, the phone rings but if I answer the caller hangs up etc. My wife has also been going out with the girls a lot more recently although when I ask their names, she just says " Oh you know, just the girls from work...you dont know them " I always stay awake at night when she is out to look out for her taxi dropping her off but she always gets out at the top of the street !!! I havent approached her with these thoughts as I think that deep down I really dont want to know the truth but, last night she went out again and I decided to really check on her. I decided I was going to park my motorbike outside the garage and then hide behind it and wait on her to return so I could see for myself who was actually dropping her off. It was at that moment, crouched behind my bike that I noticed that the valve covers on my engine seemed to be leaking a little oil ! is this something that I should be able to correct myself or should I take my bike back to the dealer ??

Hi there, just joined and thought I'd say Hi !
Hi Chrisw, Yeah, I was looking at that today actually....looks very trick dont it. One thing though, I take it changing the side lights to indicators and changing the back light cluster to a single LED unit incorporating indicators is MOT legal ????? Im not sure! I just couldnt be arsed changing things back again just for a twenty minute MOT test....... Also, with the front side light indicator option you would have to consider what the hell to do with the indicator stalk holes in the fairing! Large Yamaha sticker perhaps

Hi there, just joined and thought I'd say Hi !
Hi Mate, Yeah, its Injected. A stubby would be ideal ! let me me know how you get on with that as I think the clean look of the 06 R6 looks amazing. would be great to get a smaller profiled exhaust. Thanks for the advice. Gonna draw up my wishlist and thats at the top..along with, a rear LED light unit with built in indicators, flush front indicators, new chain & sprockets, new front discs & new pads all round, New rear Pilot Power 2CT (has a nail in it just now ) etc etc etc... Santa better be good to me this year !!!!! Cheers

Hi there, just joined and thought I'd say Hi !
Cheers for all the replies all - very much appreciated. Regarding the new end can I plan on putting on my R6, do you think that I would need to get the bike Dyno'd to make sure the fueling wasnt screwed up with the new can ? I hope not but if theres a chance of hurting the engine then I will need to think hard about changing the can! Cheers everyone

Hi there, just joined and thought I'd say Hi !
Near Glasgow! not too many decent roads around here but the bike school that i learned with have lots of ride-outs for all comers, which is pretty decent. They typically head for Loch Lomond etc - pretty nice roads there. Cheers

Hi there, just joined and thought I'd say Hi !
Hi all, Just bought a Yam 2003 R6 last month after passing my DAS. It's my first bike (well, if you exclude swapping my Astra car for a mint Honda NSR 125 many years ago) after destroying the NSR over the course of a year and a half, I gave biking up. To be honest I didnt really start as I didnt have any proper gear at the time. Now, Im older, wiser and have a wifey who wouldnt let me get the bike unless I was kitted out in the right gear (leathers, boots, decent lid etc etc) I know the weather has been rubbish here in scotland recently but I did manage to get out for a few days, and I just wanted to say that BIKING IS FANTASTIC !!! cant believe I left it almost 16 years before getting another one. The R6 is plenty fast for me (especially as the DAS test bike was a scabby 60,000 miles ER-5) Have fitted crash bungs to protect my new pride and joy (better safe than sorry eh?) and as soon as the winter is over, Im off out for a blast. Looking to get a new end can, possibly blue flame or so, to replace the HUGE OE one. Thanks for the fantastic site, I will be sure to post any queries here, and maybe I will be able to help a couple folks out too. cheers
