Just my two cents - another way to increase your gearing is to put on a taller rear tire if it will fit. On my Virago 250, I went from a 130/90-15 to a 140/90-15 and this increased the gearing about 3%.

Hi Craig, Is there one of those signs that gives your speed near you? I drive by one of those when I am trying to check my speedometer accuracy. On my Virago 250, the sign read 28 mph when my speedo said 30 mph. Then I got a new front tire - now the signs says 29 mph when my speedo says 30 mph. This way you will know how fast you are really going. You can mark your speedo if you want with the correct speed - if 120 kph is really 100, then put a small sticker saying "100" over the 120
  3. John, Have you tried adjusting your shift lever and rear brake lever? I had to raise up my gear shift lever (size 12 boots). It was easy to do and I have plenty of room now. -LesS
  4. Does anyone know how the weight of the stock Virago 250 exhaust compares to aftermarket exhaust systems (such as drag pipes) ?
