Hi & Welcome Crossplane. You say Hard Start is that turning over OK but not firing or slow turning? All the end camchain large engined Yams rattle FZS1000, all R1s and my FJR and a few had valve guide issues so the question is how is the compression and are you burning oil at start up? PS. The rattle is it around No 1 valve?

I just had my renewal for £220 but after a bit of shopping around £132.00 was offered so it only shows what an hour out of my day will do.

Whats the one on the bike now as it doesnt look standard. Not sure but the 1st XJ900 was only an 853 or something so it could have been bored out and the pipes may fit. Cant the one that fits now be fixed? -
Ok I'll remember for the future.

As Merv said "and not do any harm though"

On my RD there are 3 white wires that go to the Reg/Rec and charge the battery. What colour are yours?

Is the bike standard or modded? Check the air filter is good also the fuel tank is venting ok.

How to install a 3 Wheeler Rectifier/Regulator on XV125 Virago

I'm surprised the battery is holding up as 14.7v is generally the max! If its doing the job nice fix. I generally fit a computer fan over the top if its been located in a stupid place or a piece of tubing directing air towards the reg/rec. -
I dont generally but the bike came serviced, apparently by a monkey..

I'm slightly sobber now so.. HAPPY NEW YEAR Now where's the paracetamol.

Flyday. Here's how the oil get to the main bearings. When the piston is on the upward stroke it sucks in a petrol & oil mix into the bottom of the cases, then as the piston is on the down stroke the fuel mix is compressed/pumped by the piston which pushes the mix up the transfer ports to get to the top of the piston ready for burning, however while its being compressed some of the mix get pushed into the bearings so to lubricate them. Its simple but effective system.

There isnt any ethanol in Super at the moment thats what I put in my RD.

Sorted. New battery as it was fried, Speedo sensor also blew new one fitted and a used R6 regulator fitted for the moment. I also have a new reg on the way. So thank again and a Merry Christmas. Just as a note I changed the plugs while I was at it and I could have removed them without a spanner bloody garage mechanics.

Thanks Chaps I cant find good reason to buy a 2 stroke strobe had a word with an old mate who used to race prep RS125's & 250 and he said its almost impossible to get a decent reading so when I get on it will be nothing fancy.

Thanks John I give him a email.

The regulator is not doing the job 19v does anyone know a cheap place to get one the 5 pin type?

See what parts are available before you throw any money at it as I would think there are few and far between.

Did you run in the motor with F.Synth oil as its not the best way, the rings don't bed in correctly and the motor will burn oil.
-
Right chaps what are you using I'm after a decent quality item for use on 2 & 4 strokes.
