As the water is pressurised it will boil at a temp OVER 100ºC. For example, my Honda NS400R has a fan that doesn't kick in until 107ºC if the manual is to be believed. No idea what temp yours kicks in at though.

Dunno, but the RGV forum might be a better place to ask. http://www.rgv250.co.uk/
  3. Sounds as if the key is the wrong one or the lock is shagged. Put the key in, turn and press and the lock should "sink" into the stem. If you look very closely at the lock, doesn't it have a number stamped on it ? That should match the key. And...........the strength of the lock is poor. Chain the bike to something heavy !
  4. I have used that puller on a 1990, 1991, 1993, 1996 and 1999 DT125R's. You sure that the flywheel is from a DT125R ? Maybe the models after 1999 have a different flywheel. This is the only DT125R flywheel I have now.
  5. The one I have here is marked as M27P1L and came from M&P. It fits both my DT125R's and my TDR 250's.
  6. The M&P ones fit fine. There are also a few on Ebay at the moment.
  7. Engine number should start as - 3DB or 3MD if it's a DT125R. The early ones never did have the YPVS servo fitted on the UK models. http://www.chez.com/biker28/catalogue-dt125lc.htm
  8. Very, very early DT125R's had a drum brake on the rear. Model was 3DB1. Different carb too. Rare but they are still around.

Double check the main fuse. That box is part of the stop circuit and relies on a good 12v supply to energise the solinoid inside it. The bike should still run without the battery though so you may have to look else where.

Sounds more like a loss of compression due to a faulty plug thread. Oil shouldn't leak out of that hole. Take a good look at the thread that the plug screws into. Maybe a previous owner has over tightened the plug at some point and stripped the thread.
  11. There is normally only 1 red wire from the +ve and 1 black from the -ve on the DTR battery. That picture may be from the old electric start model (DTR125E). Thay have a second thicker wire for the feed to the starter. Either that or the owner has added a second +ve feed into the loom for some reason.

He wants to watch those numbers on the panels ! Get a local bobby who sees him racing around and he could well find out that the insurance isn't valid due to the numbers being considered a "racing" mod. Stupid but true !
  15. If your still looking for a servo, then this is half of the job. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...7902803873&rd=1

Mmmm, I don't want too pay much. It's for a DTR that I'm most likely selling anyway.

You can fit a car battery if you can find somewhere to fit it ! Charging current is somewhere around 7amps @ 5,000rpm.

The lights are fed from the lighting coil. The wire from the coil should be Yellow with a red stripe. It changes colour at a connection block to a brown wire that then goes up into the switch. You can remove the yellow/red wire at this connector (tape it up) and connect a feed from either the battery (always on) or from the brown wire that comes from the ignition switch (only on when the key is turn on). I would use a brown from the ignition to the brown wire that goes up into the lighting switch.

That link just explains how to disable the "reed" switch that is fitted to the back of the speedo on the later bikes. When the bike is at or about 60mph the signal from that reed switch tells the CDI that the bike is reaching a speed where the timing needs adjusting to reduce performance. Simply removing the reed from the speedo isn't enough as the CDI expects a signal from it and if it doesn't get one then it alters the timing anyway.
