Hey all; I know I am new here but REALLY need some help. I recently purchased a used 1997 Tour Deluxe xvz1300ltj. I fell in love with this bike on sight!! But; when I bought it 4th gear was out... perfect shifting 1-2-3... no fourth! (can't get to fifth) Well; I bought it anyway as a mechaninc fixed the problem for $150.00. Parts of course were only like $10.00! Well; after 400 miles and of course 2 hours from home....4th gear went out again.... Can anybody tell me what is going on??? The last owner put a "Barnett" (sp?) clutch in it thinking that was the problem. I have very positive shifting in all other gears....The bike runs like a top! What is happeneing is the gear pin breaks out of the dowel pin plate and it falls out. I know this is at least the 3rd time this problem has been fixed. The last owner had it happen to him twice....now it's my turn! Please help me! Does anyone have a permanent fix for this issue? Or is it just a problem with these bikes??? Let me know something!
