  1. To all who it may concern. Due to my numerous requests to Japan's Yamaha factory and to Japan's Commerce and Industry Association I've been give the same reply on my issue. That is: there were no VIN code for the engine in some particular models of motorcycles manufactured in Japan. The list of the models: YAMAHA TTR250 (years of origin: 1993-2001) YAMAHA FZR250 (years of origin: 1989-2001) YAMAHA TDR250 (tears of origin: 1988-1993) You can take this information in your consideration while checking the bike before buying it. The only identification on the engine can be found are the letters or digits like: 4GY, 1KT or other.
  2. Thank you a lot for your help. It is very very useful for me. Will try to explain everything to my Italy police. I suppose they know this problem but do not want to admit it
  3. no, I think it is just because it is too old and in Japan they just did not marked any vins on the engine, just the type of it. Do not know how to explain it to the officer at registration.
  4. Hi, people. Have bought recently Yamaha TTR250 Raid for my out of city activities. I used a bike without registration one year and now I need to register it. But police tells me that without No. of engine they will not register it. I have only frame VIN and just 4GY (just four letters) for the engine. Police tells that I need to show them 9 digits at least on the engine. That is just ridiculous situation. The year of origin of my bike is 1992. Any help or explanation will be highly appreciated.
