No not yet. have'nt had time to take the carbs out. I'll get to it this week and let you know if cleaning the carbs sorts it.

O Like a favorite in the national. starting the slow two year countdown. TBH I love my viggi but i will change at the end of the 2 year restriction. will prob go for ast reet bike that's more suited for everyday driving

Reakon its probably your batter. can you get a meter and measure what voltage is coming from the battery. how old is the battery?

That must have taken ages to type, thanks very much neversaydie. It's an excellent post. It should be made a sticky. I had a little luck with my bike today. I took the baffels off the exhaust and when for a ride. Low end power was better and so was the top end speed. Gonna try and clean out the baffels and see what that does.

God no. i used the stuff that you put in the fuel. if that does'nt clear it out I'll take the carbs out and clean them again. I read a thread last night about a guy with the very same symptoms and it turned out to be a faulty wire in the harness. I'll look for the link tomorrow. that's a great link Airhead thanks for that. i have it saved in my bookmarks.

Tried that noise. the virago is different in that i can't get my hand to the top of the carbs cause the frame gets in the way. I put carb cleaner in so I'll see if that makes a difference. TBH I'll be surprised. U'll probably laugh but you prob need something like yoga to help with your back.

Cheers noise. I'll try that. just hate the thought of taking the carbs out. they are not easy get back in. Its only 6 months or so since i cleaned them, could they gum up that quickly. Have you ever come across an electrical fault causing a bike to loose after 55. its very weird, the bike runs as normal up to that speed. Thanks for the help noise.. Hi all. i know this has been discussed at length but i can't get an answer to my question jn my searches. do if anyone could help that would be great. is there anyway to tell if one of the diaphragm's in the mikuni carbs on my virago xv 500 are not performing correctly. My bike is topping out at 60 mph so i'm trying to figure out if its a carb problem or electrical problem. the bike runs perfectly from 0-55 mph. Thanks for and help.
