The cost of bikes
I would never think of doing that I was amazed to say I got 56MPg from the R6 out of my first tank. I thought that was far too good. Think I should be aiming for 30 the first time i ever thought a fuel consumption has been too good lol.

dt125r or xt125r
Depends you got to think what you want here an what you will use the bike for. I purchased an XT125R as my first bike and loved it. Yes the power was never going to be that of the DT and the tuning potential more limited but it pulled well in traffic, I got 95Mpg from it and was an overall fun bike. I cant comment however on the DT although you have more potential to gain extra horses from the 2 stroke. So if you want cheap motoring go for the XT get the full licence and take it from there. If you intend of doing a lot of off road stuff want more power then the DT is the way. But then why spend money tuning a 125 2 stroke when you can put the money towards your full licence?

D Day hath cometh!!!
Thats so true. It wasnt a case of gradually get to the limit. I got the impression from the intructor when you enter a speed limit if its safe to do so get to the speed in the quickest possible time. It made the learning fun. Especially down some of the lanes where the comment from the intructor was "why did that car have to get in the way and spoi the fun"

D Day hath cometh!!!
I dont know if its through having a quick car (4.3 V8 Merc) or just understanding power. But I have a lot of respect for the power this bike has to offer. The power is awesome and I dont think I have even accelerated over half throttle yet. Even in 6th from 30 the bike still pulls well into a national speed limit. Obviosly as the days go by I will begin to play more but I will be treating this machine ith the respect it deserves

It may be worth taking the battery back and trying another as you may well have just picked a dud one.

The cost of bikes
The £298 quote was for the 02 plate TPFT. After being messed around by the dealer I have now purchased an 04 plate R6. This is now £403 Fully comp. Starting from when i collect it. Should I pass the test on Tuesday. The quote is from MCE insurance. If anyone want a quote dont use there online system. Give this guy an email and say you were put in touch with him by Tomo off Streetrace. [email protected] He is team manager for the modified car section but will also sort blinding deals on bike insurance. Hope to help.

33 bhp staged test
Lol, that actually makes sense. I guess that is why with the future restricted test from 08 you will still have to take a big bike test. There will be no automatic entitlement.

XT125 help
Oh and as for the 67Mph. Thats about as quick as they get. There has been another thread on here about getting extra power but being a 4 stroke you are very limited.

XT125 help
How old is the XT. I assume it will be covered by warranty. If so just get it back to the dealer and they will replace the speed sensor. This is a common fault on these bikes. Mine went within the first 300 miles and has been fine ever since.
