XT125R :)
Found the bike to be very pleasant for riding around town so far. On a longer journey it obviously gets a bit mundane hovering around 65. However it gets me to work much quicker to work and is a pleasure to ride. Very responsive with what to me feels like good low down pull. So up to 40 in town situations it doesnt really need to be any quicker. Only problem I had was a faulty speedo sensor. I had read of this on various reviews so it was expected to happen. A new sensor got fitted and it has been fine since. Not too much of an inconvenience as I pass the bike shop every day on the way to work. I have now covered approx 700 miles since ownership of the bike.

What first 'proper' bike???
Generally I believe that is the case here. If I were to change company for the car they would ask me to send proof of no claim entitlement from the other company. I also run a van and the insurance company gave me the full no claim discount when I told them I had full no claims bonus on the car. So In effect that gave me 2 sets of no claims rather than having to start from fresh. I then had to send proof of my no claims on the car for the company to honour the van policy. As you say this is common sense and helps to prevent motorists claiming a fradulent discount.

What first 'proper' bike???
I put in the Full car no claims in that you have to declare any claims and I was unsure if any people knew they would also take them into consideration for reducing the premium. The price of £574 was stating the bike was at my home address Unsecured in the bank garden with only data tag. I have never made a claim, I have no points, no conviction in the past 5 years. Any views on these? To me its a nice looking machine and the prices dont seem to bad. However that is as far as my knowledge goes. Would it be more suitable than the R6?

new yamaha driver on the road!
Congratulations. I am loving the 125 so far. Dont get me wrong I am a big fan of cages but I wont use it for going to work on now. Unless it snowing then I might consider it. But as for filtering past the traffic. My smile just gets bigger and bigger for every car I go past thinking how annoyed I would be if I had just joined the back of the queue in the car As for some of the other commente. MP3 player does wonders Wrap up properly and I have been warmer getting to work that the time it takes driving the first 10 mins for the car to warm up clear the windows and scrape the ice off the windows. I only wish I had got on to 2 wheels sooner. I am also loving the 95MPG achieved so far from the XT125 As far paying to park bikes???????????? Whats this about and who's bright idea? Pathetic!!!!

What first 'proper' bike???
Right been looking at things and I have now decided that I intend to have the licence fingers crossed for the easter bank holiday weekend. Theory test is now booked and I will be provionally booking the lessons tomorrow. The dates for the practical can then be confirmed upon passing the theory. Next thing is what first bike after completion of the test? I assume insurance will play a big part but going to be looking at the 600cc market. I am 26 with a clean driving licence and full no claims on the car. Any thoughts on what is suitable. I would prefer a sports style bike. Something with a compromise on speed and insurance but also that I will not be bored of 6 months down the road. Thanks EDIT* Any info on YZF R6 Just had a quick look at insurace £574 on the first quote. Dont think that too silly 119BHP & 169Kg. Some how I cant see me getting bored of that

Invisability Cloak
Thats the problem though talking as a 'cager' as my bike experience in no way yet qualifies me as a biker but its relevant for all. Some people dont give a flying f**k though. So when you flick the birdie it is red rag to a bull. A little coutesy goes a long way in my book but you dont see enough of it. When you flick the birdie or gesture in other ways it usually with good reason and if it was to me for cutting you up I would think. Sh1t sorry think about what I did and that would be it. However most people think well its your fault if you weren't there then I wouldn't have cut you up. On the whole the attitude of many motorists in this country stinks.

Invisability Cloak
I did wonder about forward facing speed cameras. Not that I would dream of such a thing.....

Invisability Cloak
Invisasbility cloaks really do exist. After riding on the roads for well yesterday afternoon after the CBT I have decided that I have become invisible. I thought people couldnt see silver cars but riding a bike at night ? God dam open your eyes people. Is this just me or is this just one of the joys of motorbikes?

XT125R :)
Lol it actually seems all in proportion when you see it for real. Its more of a big outer heat shield.

XT125R
Well I have decided to take the plunge. Going to the bike dealers either later today or by the middle of next week to order my new bike. Going to buy new for the peace of mind, dealer backup etc with a view to keepeing it for a year. Are there any other XT125 owners on here or any experience of the bike? Thanks.

Hello!
from what I have been looking at its the strong second hand prices that have been making me consider new. I would never normally dream of buying a new car but for the bike I am looking at it more that I am buying peace of mind and backup. Looking at prices I would guess on losing £1k in the year which doesnt seem too bad to me at the minute. I will be going back to the bike shop tomorrow to cost up gloves helmet jacket boots etc. Compare that to what you get in the bike deal and the take it from there. The insurance is coming out at £248TPFT with Lexham which I dont think seems too bad.

Hello!
Hi all. I am a newbie into the biking world at 25. I am looking at getting an XT125R Brand new with the view that I may have it a year before taking my test. I know nothing of bikes currently so buying new will give me the ultimate peace of mind. Are there any owners of the XT125R on here. Should I post in the relevant bike section for owners views. Thanks in advance.
