  1. Ok thanks guys...but I really need some explanation on the possible cause(s). I just checked CDI unit and unlike the one that had posted here (CDI unit repair post )mine has only 6 leads coming out of it. I am guessing since my bike doesnt have a side stand switch that is one point. I cant figure out why there isnt ANY XV 125 manual in the globe...why cant at least yamaha upload one to net? Gaskets can directly relate to misfiring in front cylinder? Or is it water...but what if it happens when there's no water at all? Oil leaks have something to do with this? Or is it a simple /complex electrical issue, right now I dont have a tool to unscrew my plugs and check, dont know if front cylinder is requesting a new plug???? In the mean time guys..please share ur experience here...
  2. Hi Paul, thanx will check what it would turn out to be...plus I have this sort of issue too..when I ride at night head light, both high and low beams suddenly brightens up for few secs and becomes normal..I talked to an electrician and he told me the same issue might be there, am scared of short-circuit / fire issues..must get it checked soon. Am having issues in buying stuff from ebay as I dont have a credit card right now. I talked to my US friend but she has to order it from UK..and she doesnt seem to respond fast.. If you could check for a complete gasket set Paul, can u send me the price you could buy one and the postage fare for you to courier it to me? Give me a better option to send you money first. Only a biker would feel my grief! Plus I think the oil leakage is becoming grave..I washed yesterday better to see how fast it develops.. Oil leakage is not the main issue that requests washing, its been dry season, roads are dusty..sometimes I take gravel roads so dust accumulate in oil and clogs engine fins. They wouldnt better dissipate engine heat once clogged. And when its rainy season its mud that tarnish the great look, mud accumulation corrodes metal parts..and when hardened with rust cleaning is impossible.. U guys can keep bikes nice and clean cos u have better roads he he..with all these I wanna keep her good looking and beautiful..so I normally wash once a week mate... I love this bike so much..its given me a really satisfactory riding experience... ;) for example last night I rode in heavy rain..she was perfectly balanced and no slips at all..even slips on dry gravel roads when I break are controlable..what a great design with lowered gravitational point... 3. Like I said in another thread here I am having oil leak issues in both engine heads. In order to keep my baby look great I wash it with mild detergent at least once a week, it was normal for engine to misfire after a wash, earlier it didnt have prominent noise..but since recently I am experiencing prolonged misfires in front cylinder with some " fut......fut..........fut" noise..earlier the issue went ok once I accelerate engine in neutral position few minutes..I am guessing still it is a spark plug water issue...I sprayed WD 40 around where the spark plug meets the engine outer case...er..head. And washed it today. I noticed same misfires today but soon it went ok..then tonight on my way back home I was caught in a heavy rain. However when I was nearing home when I had to slower the engine I heard the same fut....fut noise with a resulting deceleration of bike..like its losing power.. What would be causing this issue, I think I should get sparks checked..I mean wires to make sure if the coils working fine..is it possible if those ignition coils under tank to malfunction once they got wet? Or this is caused by worn-out gaskets that kills the compression in heads? How can I check these?

Virago looks majestic to me..nice heavy design..here in Sri Lanka it is illegal to ride bikes more than 250cc. That sucks! We miss most of the good stuff under the sun.

Ok Paul, that was my guess too..but why do they keep saying in ebay the set matches to both models...thats really bad.. http://cgi.ebay.com/FULL-COMPLETE-GASKET-SET-FIT-YAMAHA-XV-125-VIRAGO-/260730586749?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3cb4c1067d#ht_500wt_922 What do you think of this one above?

Hi guys, Like I told you earlier I should change my gaskets..probably tappet O-rings etc. I have found some gasket sets here on ebay. I have some questions. in these gasket products, there are sets compatible with both 250 and 125 cc models. I think 250 engines are bigger..so buying a 250 gasket for 125 engine wouldnt cause issues? Can someone help me with this please? I badly should replace gaskets as oil leakage seems to be getting worse... Am sure at least one of you've had replaced gaskets..of your xv125.

Thanks bro, am gonna get your info into a PDF...That helps millions mate!
  11. Bro please it would be helpful for me as well as the community if you could graphically show where was the fault and how u fixed it, I mean detecting the faulty diode, how u opened the CDI unit...etc..I hope u could open it up once again for us..that sort of issue can come up for any of us XV125 users so please share it in detail.. Thanx..
  12. Hm...guess u've located the issue...piston rings for this model are available on ebay..I saw several on offer...keep them checked also as it will be advisable...
  13. Also check if the battery is charging enough..fuses doing fine?
  14. Are you sure that the carb offering gas to the particular cylinder? Take out the spark plug and keep it closer to engine frame, then start the bike to see if it makes sparks...that is what mechanics here do in order to see if the plugs getting power..if sparking ok then there would be a gas issue..I had same thing in my early Honda CD 125T benly twin..and hey also check if the plug is getting splashed by engine oil..if sparking ok no need to worry about the CDI unit or wires I guess..check carb..hope this helps and Paul and Ray may further help..
  15. thanx mate, its a great found...
  16. Cool mate..yeah Paul will help u with the bigger stuff..keep us informed..
  17. Hi, seems to me this is the pipe that doesnt connect to anything at the free end..it just goes into left air cleaner cover, if you could open the cover of the left air cleaner, at the rear end there should be a hole matching the diameter of the pipe so just put it there...as if the pipe comes out from left air cleaner and goes into carb... I think its a breather pipe..thats all..my bike has it that way mate..

  20. yeah mate am alright thanx..what cap ? are u talking about tappets...? but cant figure out where the oil leaking from..
  21. Buying a new rim is pricey for you? Check ebay there were some ...
  22. Ok guys I will have a look...if its a capacitor I know it stores electricity..but what function does it do in the bike, what circuit does it handle...? thats the question..and unwired, it doesnt seem to affect anything..hm
  23. Ok Paul thanks..I will do as you say..lets see...
  24. Similar thing for sale on ebay... http://global.ebay.com/Yamaha_XV_125_H_Virago_Relais_Kondensator/290475831007/item
  25. Hi guys...at the left air cleaner of my bike has this electronic device which seems to be a condenser or a relay as I saw somewhat similar ones on ebay. Also there are two wire leads that fit into connectors of the condenser/relay...but I dont know what is negative and poisitive (wires from bike I assume red is positive, black (two wires soldered together ) is negative ) but on this device both connectors are black...cant figure out polarity.. I dont know if its functional, earlier user seems to have had it disconnected for some reason..and I wonder what does it do..all the lights and stuff doing fine..but the wire leads from bike and this electronic bit disconnected...can someone help?
