I do know that if you take your car for an MOT and the spare is bald that's a fail but take it off and it will pass, so I suppose if you take the foot rests off of a bike it can't fail if they are not there, so if you patch over the footrest on your scooter and the tester sees it then that could fail it but if you chop it off and it's not there then it should pass but you might have to chop both sides off so that it's obvious that you can't take a pillion. My best guess anyway and as my wife will tell anyone willing to listen I have been known to make the odd mistake!

Hi Andrew and welcome to the YOC , it's usual to do an INTRO in the new members section before you ask a "how do I fix my bike" question. Someone on here will no doubt be able help out but we get a LOT of one hit wonders and it gets tiring giving advice and then NOTHING from the person who's asking, not even a "THANKS" most of the time. We're strangers to you and if you talk to strangers then you usually say "Hi" first.

That looks FANTASTIC mate the views are breathtaking and liked the videos. Glad your back safe and sound, except your arse of course that is still roaming around the Alps looking for a tube of cream. 6000 miles Bippo will be annoyed !!
-
Hi Dan and welcome to the YOC.
-
Tommy didn't know you could dance?
-
Sniff it really should be the wife he's thanking I just get to pay the vet fee's. But yes they do look at you like that don't they? But as I explained to my wife they look cute they purr and sit on your lap but unlike them my FJ suspension does NOT shit behind the sofa !!!
-
Oh sorry mate only saw the DT125 on your list.
-
Like you Tommy I like cats to but couldn't eat a whole one unless it has the right sauce. If her indoors ever reads this I am off to the salt mines without my tea.
-
I will regret selling it but at the end of the day I'm to much of a biker to let it just sit in the garage slowly degrading, tyres and battery will fall apart if not used and bearings will slowly crap out if they are not used as well so it's got to go and who ever gets it will be well pleased cos it's the only one I have ever seen that everything works even the trip computer thingy. So regardless of how much I have put into it and the fun it has given me it's going, nuff said!
-
Er Finnerz, going from a 125 to the 1200 is a bit of a leap mate but we all need a goal ! Buy one and do it up while your working your way towards it.

If you can't get the Husky I HAVE A CAT !!
-
Something more comfortable, let me see, A CAR with a chauffeur perhaps.
-
Thanks for the offer Bipps but 4 cats and a Husky would be just a touch to far and Foamy keeps offering me a Pony and a Monkey for some reason !! Think the next fixer upper will be an ARK!!

It's Saturday morning (just gone) and I'm minding my own business in the garage fixing stuff and in comes the wife with a ginger kitten "look what I found" she says, Ok it's a cat say I and that as far as I'm concerned is the end of the matter, men don't do subtle do they? But women do !! 10 minutes later she's still there stroking this flea ridden scruffy lump and I'm starting to get that feeling that all men get when their women start hanging around when they normally don't, you know what I mean, suddenly they are where ever you are and showing interest in stuff that they have never shown an interest in before, so finally starting to understand that I'm required to show an interest I make the fatal error of saying so "who's is it then?" Long story short I now have ANOTHER cat FFS! we have 3 already and to top it off I have just come back from the vet's and I have the bill in my trembling hand for £147 !!! It's had it's knackers done and a tiny drip of some chemical, which is apparently more valuable than gold pressed latinum (see Deep Space 9) and a blood test that seems to have been done by a Nobel Prize winner who charges by the second, Oh and apparently I have to pay for the thing to be vaccinated against every possible disease ever known since the Cretacious period. Does it matter that I am allergic to cat's? apparently not, am I going to get my new suspension for the FJ ? again probably not. I forsee the day when this thing has eaten it's weight in enough food to have bought the new bike I really want instead of having to buy old clunkers and do them up. Sorry this is not a MOTOR BIKE story but just wanted to vent!

As above - read the manual, all the settings are right there in front of you, all carbs suck only injectors blow!
-
Nice one Foamy, just goes to show that not all bikes are mega expensive to run.
-
Mine full comp is £66 but that's old fart rates !! Oh plus leathers ? and helmet.
-
Look in your manual for the carb settings and turn the fuel mixture up or the air mix down, whichever is set wrong, best bet is to take it back to factory settings and go from there. Usually the factory settings are ok when new but stuff wears out and needs adjustment, usually a quarter turn in or out can be a major benefit but DON'T do big changes from the original setting as that can cause problems as well.

Hi and Welcome to the YOC, your not alone, there are other young ladies on this site Bippo - Sasha & Katie come to mind, nice people, as for going to a meet with other bikers then as Lallasro says you will be welcomed and spoken to with respect by most honest bikers cos someone will thump them up the side of the head if they don't. L-Plates are no barrier they just mean your learning and if anyone says they look naff well their right but we all used then at one time or another, glad you could join us and any time now Foamy will be along which probably means you will get to see his mankini we all have a supply of mind bleach so don't be afraid to ask if you want to borrow some as it will burn into your retinas. Good luck with your ride out, have fun.
-
NO I still don't want a monkey or a bloody pony as for a bullseye you do know this is a site for motorcycle Foamy ?
-
Bound to get a few time wasters Tommy but that's the fun of it, you can take the piss and they have nothing to say except "I don't want it" and to be honest I don't really want to sell it it's just SWMBO has a bug up her arse about me having 2 bikes.
-
DOH !!! Remind self to read the post before putting foot in mouth, OH FFS !!!!
-
Very kind of you mate, I mean I'm quite overwhelmed with your generosity, not sure if the travelling time on a cheese sandwich from CANADA is up to my usual standards I mean 3 or 4 months on a ship and then the dreaded British POST OFFICE, they like to sample what ever you happen to have put in your post, anything really, money - birthday cards (with money) - shiny bit's of gold and silver will only arrive on the 32nd day of the month - as for a cheese sandwich if I'm lucky I might get the crust. As for the science experiment they might well recruit it and send it out to rob some other poor soul !! So if it's OK with you I will decline your most generous offer but don't think I'm being rude as I would not like to upset anyone especially my friends from over the water.
