If your lucky then just a bust or loose connection I would think, is it an electronic rev counter? Cos that might be a relay or some such failing. May be the crank sensor or something else like a bad earth.

If something falls out then it's broken, but it is a right bastard to put back together if your not patient, take a photo as you take it off to see where the wires go as it's easy to trap them on the rebuild.

No Foams, at first they were something like X4 then X8 then X16 and so on up till you now have X52, before that the machines/CD ROM drives could not read the data fast enough to warrant any faster speeds, same with dial up speeds as well, you could buy a lowly 8 bit then it moved on to faster and faster (relative) speeds until the arrival of broadband which again was nothing near what we get now.

OH GOD !! You mean that one day some poor soul will be taking Foamy for real and follow his advice, I might just try to stay alive long enough to see that !!!
  5. Sounds like a dirty or broken connector, you will need to have a look on the net for a diagram as we will get a bollocking if we copy a diagram that is copyrighted on to here. Try here ? http://www.fixya.com/f/landing/tagspage/yamaha_wiring_diagrams?cmpid=20140714&gclid=COvHqMasw8MCFSQGwwodaAMAaQ If that don't work there are loads of others.

Stainless then if you want to keep them looking neat and tidy, you can't do up a nut and bolt that have been painted without at least some of the paint coming off.

Have you tried Baco foil and Coca cola on your chrome ? Believe it or not it seems to really clean chrome of rust and blemishes. Look it up on Youtube.

Be aware that if the ticket is "officially" sanctioned by the owner of the land or the local authority then they indeed do have the right to pass them on to a debt collection agency, then the money really starts to rack up, you will be charged for the use of the agency and the costs associated with it, plus any and all monies that the issuing company feel that they can get off of you and it's not a rolling charge but a COMPOUND charge so a £40 fine can in some instances reach huge proportions that you HAVE to pay, always check before you dump these ticket with your local authority to see if you are bound to pay or not. Binning them is NOT a good idea without some follow up.

  13. Does look a bit sooty Mc, to rich I would say or perhaps not enough air in the mix tho the spark terminals look ok as in light brown rather than black.

That's the best thing to do, if you look at it off the bike it will tell you lots more than when it's hidden behind loads of gubbins. Measure it as well and compare that against a genuine shock, if it's much bigger than standard then there's your problem, a second hand shock is not always the best way to got, you never know how the thing has been treated, a new one will set you back a large chunk of change but then it will outlive the bike plus it's easier to sell if you tell folks that it has been done.

Just an update Katie, they are electric do 20mph & take 8 hours to charge !
  18. If you have flames in the carb check the valve timing, it might be a broken valve or just need adjusting.

Sounds like a head gasket Mc, I know you fitted a new one when you rebuilt it, didn't you? You can test your cap in some warm water to see what temp it opens at, start with cool water and add hot till it opens have a temp gauge in the water and work out at what temp it opens at.

I'll help Tasky, my 5 pound lump hammer & your biggest screw driver.
  24. Had a look on the net for your needle, Christ they are rare aren't they, have you considered just changing the whole carb to something else that might fit instead? Believe it or not most of the threads that had your carb on them were for lawn mowers and ATVs. Another thread I found was for MIKUNI itself, they can supply a new carb for you if you contact them according to their website, you best be sitting down when they tell you the price tho. Your best bet might be to buy a whole bike/scrapper and rob the bit's you want off of that. Good luck in your quest mate. PS there were loads of parts for the RT180 version, will they fit?
