WTF is that all about ???? 5 posts from GUEST? that won't open anyone know who this is and what the problem with his/her posts are?
  2. Well there's the kiss of death finnerz "DAD HAS ONE"
  3. Just saw this thought it might tip you over the edge https://youtu.be/pg4G4fDY7-4
  4. If you like it and it suits you then BUY IT !!! Can you find a cheaper one would be my first thought, but if your happy with the trade in and the dealer offers a reasonable service then your all good. As for handling (above) it's all relative really, if it holds the road well and it's not used for racing or track days most bikes are fine. If you want to blast through corners with the footrests touching the ground then buy and R6 otherwise buy what you like.

Yes as above really, best to check that the return spring has not fallen out of the retainer hole, it might even have broken the spring so best done sharpish.
  6. Ok sorry thought that someone was taking the piss out of this poor lad!
  7. Hi and welcome to the YOC
  8. Sorry to tell you but someone was taking the piss, 710 is OIL spelled backwards !!! Go here http://www.manualslib.com/manual/611316/Yamaha-Tzr50.html?page=41#manual https://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080629090928AAxE1Lq https://www.louis-moto.co.uk/rund-ums-motorrad/bike-datenbank/yamaha-tzr-50/ra031/3052 Hope that helps. It might be an idea to also do an INTRO in new members section just to say hello. PS and yes 2T is the fuel oil NOT engine/gear oil.

    FJR SAGA!

Just an update, finished it. New rad is great takes ages for it to reach an sort of high temp so that's a result and the bloody coil was fine just broke a wire while taking the fairing off so now have a nice new SPARE coil in the garage DOH!
  10. Hi Tom, Welcome to the YOC, best INTRO of the year award goes to?
  11. Bad luck Paul at least your trying mate some just throw in the towel and stick with the 125! As above really (apart from the sarcasm )
  12. Hi "MYNAMEMF82" I mean please make an effort - really? Anyway back to your question, I don't think you can take the barrels out to 750 but you could rebore them (550) out to max and sleeve them if they are really damaged but that might cost more than the bike, best to look out for a set of spare barrels on ebay or some such and just use the old ones as an anchor. You can't plonk a set of 750 barrels on either as they are designed for a longer stroke than the 550 you would be just throwing your money away, if you really want a 750 then might be cheaper to buy one instead of making your own. Not saying it can't be done just it will cost you more than the bike is worth to do it. Plus your bike has the 550 cdi heads and cams these won't work on the 750 barrels, least pretty sure they wont at least not without a shit load of work. Of course you might be the best mechanic there has ever been and your able to do this on a rainy weekend and the rest of us will be in awe of your skill but as you haven't said "Hello" in the New Members section we will never know (hint). It really helps if you say Hello in the new members section as folks are wary of "one hit wonders" of which we get a lot, it's just like saying Hi to a group of strangers who you met for the first time and helps folks know you here for the long haul not just cos your stuck. Just in case, Welcome to the YOC and hope you stick around cos your project sounds like fun and we would all like to see how you get on.

What's this about LEGO? I have tons of the bleeding stuff left over from my boys. And can you explain the "solvent" method for an old fart?
  15. Not as long as you don't go mad about it, just gently turn it over for f**k sake don't start it !!!!

The stickers are lacquered over so you will have to remove the lacquer before the stickers can be taken off, best advice, wet and dry sandpaper (fine) and lots of elbow grease, then the stickers can be pealed off, a right bastard to do, why not just paint over them and have a ghost "FJ" under the paint?
  18. Good for you mate, don't forget to mention the YOC and how we are such a great bunch of people Ha Ha Ha.
  19. Welcome to the YOC Tanguero, always nice to have new bikers join in, remember there are no daft questions just daft answers, if you want info on something then feel free to ask, no one will laugh (well not much) and your at that age where if they laugh you join in not get stroppy.

    Ebikes???

Yeah it does matter unfortunately, due I think to the fact that most poor souls are out and about and the likelihood of you coming a cropper are more when there is more traffic out there. Plus of course they can add a bit to the premium. I tend to go with the company that gives me the most bang for my buck ie Cover for things other than the bike itself jacket helmet and such, I mean my jacket was £370 and my lid was £150 and a descent pair of gloves will see you well into £25.

    Ebikes???

Go for it mate, nothing like a bargain when you have to insure your bike, try Googling the insurance company name and see if they come up as an OK company or someone to steer clear of, most folk seem to delight in moaning about poor service so if there is any bad feed back you should find it that way. Did find this tho worth a read, http://www.zrxocboard.com/board/showthread.php?42128-Ebike-Insurance-Warbing-AVOID!!!!! Looks like the guy who wrote this is a TROLL and just does it to wind people up but sometimes it pays to listen to that little doubt in the back of your mind! PS I originally thought that your were talking about Electric bikes ! and wondered what it was you wanted to know DOH!

    Ebikes???

Sorry Dom didn't really understand what your saying. Can you explain that in words of one syllable or less please?

Ah I see ok then try here http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/fj_1200_3xw_type/91-96/picture/valve_-_rocker_cover_gasket_seal/ That will give you a gasket for your exact model mate. £37.58 is an about average price, if you join the FJ owners club it will be slightly less but you have to pay a joining fee which will make it more expensive. I would change the "O" rings as well cos if they haven't been done then they will leak eventually and you might as well do them while the cover is off now rather than wait till they do leak. One other thing lassy when you change the oil filter be VERY careful NOT to trap the wire that runs below the oil filter housing in the groove that the oil filter housing sits in cos this will crack the housing and spill oil all over the floor, been there done that !!!
  24. Easy job and should take about 2 hours, just use what's handy, don't look for cheap get an EBC set they are pretty generic. Good luck.

    FJ1200

You need a "Valve cover gasket" plus don't forget the rubber "O" rings on the 8 bolts that go through the valve cover. These things Plus this
