Nice one mate, sorry to hear your have to stay on tho..! What courses are you looking at Steve? If you don't mind my asking that is.
  2. I'm with Jimmy on this, in more years than I care to remember I have had 0 breakages on my bikes. I always grease my cables as well so that might be part of the reason. Buy a cable oiler Grouch they are cheap and effective. I use a dollop of Bluetac formed into a funnel and pour oil down the cable every couple of years, tho the FJR is all hydraulic now.
  3. Hi and welcome to the YOC . As Drewpy said try putting your question in the "general" area of the site you will get more answers there. P.S. Try filling in your profile a bit more, someone might be near you and be able to help out.

Ok here's what you do, first do you have the manual? If not then buy one as soon as you can, next your going to have to follow the wiring from the battery (red wire) to the fuse box, unfortunately there is no way for me to tell where your fuses are, they could be under the seat behind the fairing or tucked away in half a dozen places, your just going to have to hunt for them and it still might not be a fuse..! This is just my first port of call for this sort of thing. Sorry Chris but it's a mare to try to offer advice on someone else's bike. Just looked on the XV owners site and I "think" the main fuse is under the seat (20Amp) if that blows then the bike will be dead, apparently it's usually a short to ground that causes it to blow, known fault.

If the battery has charge in it (you have checked?) then best guess is a fuse, take them out and see if any are blown. After that if you have no luck then come back with what you have found..!

Between 13.5 and 14.5ish volts at the terminals. At about 2 thousand rpm it should stabilise at the upper limit. If it just sits there and never gets above 11/12 volts then it's not charging.
  10. Found this Cynic https://www.trackdays.co.uk/experience-days/motorcycle/motorcycle-gift/ looks like a £100 a day using your own bike..!

  15. Welcome to the YOC. All bikes have their quirks, but rattles ? I have never heard of a bike that "always" rattles and doubt if there is one out there that anyone would buy it. If you have a rattle fix it..!

A clever idea for those with leather jackets and no venting in their normal jacket, mine has front and rear vents so don't need them but if your hot and uncomfortable then anything that brings your temp down is a good idea. I was on the M25 and M4 last bank holiday and it was frigging roasting even with the vents open but if I had a leather jacket with no vents then these would have made it much easier.
  18. You can attach them with bungee straps to various parts of the bike, they usually have a couple of tie downs on the bottom to stop them turning into big fat wings sticking out the side of the bike.

This tells you how to get the keyway out of the ignition block to help with the broken steering lock, you buy a replacement keyway and refit it to the original lock.
  20. Hi welcome to the YOC, just buy some throw overs probably not anyone in the world doing (HARD) panniers for a 125.

Ok folks quick update, well it seems I'm an idiot..! I fitted a USB and an auxiliary power supply to the middle of the handle bars, it is made of aluminium and rests quite close to the bars themselves, guess where this is going? Yep it was hitting the bars and only rattled at 4.5K revs, felt like a right wassock when it was sorted by the guys at the FJ owners club in about 4 seconds, hung my head in shame all the way home.. ! Still it didn't cost me the £200 I was expecting and they only laughed when I had my back turned. Should have listened to Tasky. CYNIC !!!
  25. Did the same on the FJ Finnerz, thing was a pain in the arse and somewhere or other I read that it was not needed anyway, nothing to do with clutch judder by the way just put there in the factory to hold the first plate In place while they move them around the factory floor.
