Urgent: Dragstar Owners!!!
we joke about the place at work, I dont reckon theyd drag a jack out for a cruiser(unless youre watching), if they cant lift the back end off the floor by leaning it over on the sidestand sportsbike style it wont get done. They actually snapped the sidestand off an r1 doing this then charged the owner for a new stand! They told me this while they were doing mine!

xvs 650 or xv535
5bhp more at the crank but probably 15 difference at the back wheel once the shaft drive has finished sucking the power out plus the extra torque which is what cruisers are about surely...? pillion seat?! who gets a custom for a good pillion seat its bloody shockingly bad on both bikes! If you want comfy back seat and big tank should be looking at a bagger! But hey at least the shocks on the honda are still going strong and the chrome hasnt fell off! Seriously though it handles great and will pull 100mph no problem, difference in speed is undeniable from anyone whos ridden both bikes. my dragstar engine starts vibrating like hell at 80 and prefers to stay around 60-70 which is a pretty embarressing top speed for any motorbike. Luv the look of the dragstar but its a really limited bike imho.

Urgent: Dragstar Owners!!!
That makes sense, mot place by me doesnt bother they just bounce the front and back up and down then stick it on the rolling brake force tester. Backstreet MOT tester granted

xvs 650 or xv535
Appreciate its all in the eye of the beholder, to me the 535 is a really ugly bike and has all the styling cues that I dislike. Just makes me think "old man styling". The xvs custom is a lovely long/low/mean looking bike that looks more outlaw than oldman. Between the two the dragstar is far better. I have to say though, I have a honda 750 black widow and it knocks the socks off the dragstar in every single department.

Urgent: Dragstar Owners!!!
This is very interesting thanks for posting. I had the seat off adjusting the pre-load couple of days ago. Shock seemed tolerable for solo riding but when I took the gf for a short ride it was bouncing all over the place. Hit a slightly bumpy road at 70 and it bounced her right up out the seat. I think the shock may be screwed and its just kind of acting on the spring bouncing around, will see if its improved next time she comes out on the back of it. Im going to have a quick look at the bottom part of the bracket. I was wondering, if you cant tell the shock mount has brocken without jacking it up to inspect how did they know it was brocken for your MOT? Thanks guys

650 Dragstar - just too darn quiet!!
Im a great believer in "Loud pipes HELP reduce possibility of being knocked off while filtering" lol. I might get a really long badge made saying it... I dont think the 650 sounds too bad compared to others as standard but its definitely too quiet for my personal liking but Im too mean to spend money on some exhausts and dont like drilling holes in the original one. I just ride extra careful when filtering and have my thumb ready for a blast of the horn if anyone looks like theyre thinking about dointg a u-turn on me or something

XVS950 owners
Thanks for the sound advise fellas. It looks like its gonna come down to which bike commes up for sale at the right price first. Shes had a sit on the shadow and the xvs950, she think theyre both low enough for her (5' 3"). Havent found a 650 in a shop yet for her to have a look at. There any differnce in top speed between the shadow and the drag 650?

XVS950 owners
Are there many XVS950 owners on here? Be interested to here thoughts on the bike compared to others. My gf is getting her first big bike in the next two months. She has a Kawasaki Eliminator at the moment and her short list for her first big bike is an xvs950, honda shadow spirit 750, kawasaki vn800. Anyone owned a couple of these bikes and can compare?

Winter hack
yeh I know you said around a 125 but ill also vouch for the er5, been a great winter hack for many years. I rode mine through everything... after many years use I swapped it for a gpz5 which was just as good but has the added bonus of a lil extra power and some wind protection

Yamaha Warrior
Cool, warriors are pretty thin on the ground over in the UK too. I hardly ever see one...

Louder Pipes on a 125
"IMnsHO, loud pipes are like the whole bandanna, beard and leather chaps image - just for fun. Nothing wrong with it, just don't pretend otherwise" Hey, everyone knows "Beards save lives" too lol

Louder Pipes on a 125
2b fair, I dont think he was objecting to people fitting race exhausts or the level of noise. He was finding it hard to understande why people fit them to 125s. Exhausts are usually changed to either up the performance or just because people like the sound. Neither of these really apply to most 125s because they dont gain power and they sound crap (imo)! lol. Each to their own though, if your new to bikes tinkering around with your 125 is a good place to learn before you get your hands on something bigger... not many people like having a bike that is standard, nice to make it your own.

Would you give me your opinion ?
What a load of trash. He was the hard cold person with no emotions. He stole from someone and had a blatant disregard for the impact that it would have on that person and how it would make them feel. "Treat people how you would like to be treated yourself" He showed no respect or sympathy so should be given none in return. Soppy wishy washy attitudes like this allow criminals to thrive. Wake up and GET REAL!

Louder Pipes on a 125
You cant really ride all the way to work filtering through slow traffic holding your horn on though can you? lol. I totaly agree with "Loud piped save lives". Obviously having a loud can doesnt mean you dont have to learn how to ride safe anymore! But it does help make SOME road users aware of your presence in SOME situations, so thats a good thing! No, it will not help get you noticed by some complete irresponsible tw#t who has his stereo on full blast/on mobile etc. I do lots of filtering through slow moving traffic and you can see people actually look in their mirrors to try and see what they can hear approaching. When I do the same trip on my other bike with no race can, people open doors on you etc... Loud piped "HELP" save lives. Fact

WARNING - New Email Scam
Ha thats funny. You have to watch these scams. One of my co-workers replied to a scam email with details of someone else who works at our place. All he did was fill in the guys name and say he was interested. It was meant to be as a bit of a wind up... they found out the phone number of the company from the email and started phoning up our work asking for the guys bank details! When someone told them to get lost someone with a LOCAL accent phoned back and said we know youre name and the address of your work, and have followed you back to your house, dont mess us around! The guy ended up in tears over it. Silly joke got out of hand!

650 Dragstar........... girls' bike??
Nah, maybe they just have bad taste in bikes?! (joke)

650 Dragstar........... girls' bike??
Whats the seat height like on the XJR? If you also ride a Tenere Im guessing you dont usually have a prob with seat height?! The whole "womens" bike debate is a difficult one. Im guessing a lot of shorter guys go for the same bikes that have the "women bike" label? As far as the dragstar goes I think its a really nice bike. When I first got into biking I had the intentions of buying one as soon as I passed my full test. I ended up getting a bandit 600 (cuz it was nice and cheap) until I could save up enough to put towards getting the dragstar. Unfortunately by the time Id saved up enough money (a long time!) Id gotten well and truly bored of the power the bandit 600 had. So I had to go for something with a bit more ooomph. Ive had the SV1000s for 5years and have loved it, but I think my most recent bike (the Yam warrior) is the bike that Ill be sticking with long term. At 260kg its a heavy bike, but a similar story to your XJR. Its well balanced and the low seat height make it much easier than youd imagine.

650 Dragstar........... girls' bike??
Ive never ridden an XJR1300 myself, I just know they have a well known masculine image due to their style and large weight! lol
-
650 Dragstar........... girls' bike??
My personal opinion... Ive always viewed them as abit of a girls bike! Along with Viragos, Honda shadow 750s and Harley sportster 883s. Although thousands of men ride these bike too, these just seem to be the bikes that most women go for. Its like saying an er500 or a cb500 is a learners bike. People say it because most people (not everyone) who have just passed their test go for a bike like this. All those cruisers that are considered a little girly are all smaller/lighter compared to others. A big, heavy, difficult bike to ride is the ultimate "Man" bike lol. Think about it, a VMAX, TL1000, Busa, XJ1300, all man bikes!
