right i took off the inspection covers to have a look at the valve rocker arms and found that the inlet clearnance was way loose i mean mad loose.also noticed that the locking nut on that side looks like it has been replaced.its a 9mm and the exhaust is 10mm surely they should be the same.reset it but will do it again in the morning when its cold.never tried starting it yet want to wait till tomorrow.should i change the locking nut for a locknut[if you know what i mean].it must be shaking loose.

hi all.there was a slight rattle coming from the top end of my sr250.thought it might had been valve clearance but i've reset them and the noise was still there.anyway coming home today the noise got worse to the point that im afraid to ride it any further.looks like im going to have to take the head off for a look but any ideas what i should look for first?

if the existing wheels ar'nt pitted that much then yea.ive never done it before but i guess if you do it one at a time making sure you torque each one to spec should be easy enough.good luck and let us know how you get on

hi all.i have the sr250 ready for mot i think.just one thing is bothering me.when i pull the front brake and push down on the forks the handlebar mounting moves.i will try and explain.the bottom half of the handle bracket fits into a rubber sleeve that fits into the top yoke.the rubber sleeve i guess acts like a shock absorber.if that is right then the mounting should move right????.here's a pic to explain better.the part im talking about is 13

i have a parts manual for an sr with the single clock[mine has two].it shows an o ring with clip.my question is how do i get the clip on.if you could tell me how to post a pic.it would explain better
  22. skik posted a post in a topic in Classics
my local yamaha dealer has sent me o rings and 2 spring like clips to hold my speedo and tachometer cables in place.i cant work out how this is ment to work as the end of the outter cable pushes into the hole in the hub [speedo same as tacho] with no room for a clip.it does have a grove in both the cable and hub hole that the o rings fits but how the hell do i secure it.i could post pics but dont know how.im hoping someone with an old sr might be able to help

hi folks.maybe wrong thing to do but i took the spokes on my old 1981 yamaha sr250 down to the metal with a wire wheel.then i wash them.2 hours later they were all rusted again.i could clean them up again with wire wool and spray them with acf50 but will that last?or will i have to paint/coat them with something?
