Afternoon folks, new to these forums, I just picked up a 1984 yam XS400, DOHC last night, mate was wanting rid of it Its been sat in a barn for the last 8 years but is actually very clean and tidy, just a little dusty, the engine was running a couple of years ago but it had an intermittent electrical fault. I’m going to strip this thing right back, either flat tracker replica or hard tail, still undecided. Either way I want to run minimal electrics (daylight hours MoT). Ideally I would like to do away with the starter motor however this engine doesn’t have a kickstart fitted, I know the earlier XS’s had both starter motor and Kick. So two questions: Is it possible to fit a kick start to this engine? And secondly, does anyone have any pics of USD front end on one of these bikes? Many thanks in advance, W11
