Does anybody know if you can buy screws for footpegs on their own? The screw on my right hand footpeg seems to have shaken loose without my knowing. The first I knew of this was when the peg itself came off as I went round a bend!

Neither of those rookie errors! Already made sure killswitch wasn't in off position. Even flicked it back and forth to be sure. Tried with kickstand up too, though if memory serves that wasn't a problem so long as I was in neutral when starting. Any suggestions for 3rd and 4th most likely causes?

I packed my 650 dragstar up for the winter and now that it's looking nicer out I've decided to get it back out. Sadly though it won't start up! I've got a new battery in there with full charge so I've established that isnt the problem. When I've got the key turned in the ignition all the electrics work. Neutral light comes on, indicators work, headlight works etc. However when I push the electric start I get nothing. So... anybody knowledgeable know what my problem is likely to be and whether it's something I can fix myself or will it need to go to a garage?
  4. So I've just come back from a short break away without the bike to find that it won't start and none of the service lights come on when turning the key in the ignition. I also noticed that I'd left the sidelights on for all the time that I was away so I'm pretty sure I've drained all life out of the battery. My question is has anybody had any experience jump starting a dead dragstar? I had a quick look in the manual and it said not to attempt it and to take the bike to a dealer but I'm damned if I'll do that if i can just hook up some jump leads or roll it down a hill in gear. Any advice either way is most welcome. Cheers!
  5. Thanks very much for the help and advice. It's very much appreciated
  6. Price sort of doesn't matter but also sort of does. Garage could only quote for standard exhaust so thats the price that has been cleared by his insurers. However, if genuine replacements are slightly off that price then I can just submit for authorization of those more expensive parts. Could you recommend me a custom set of pipes with a heat shield? Another consideration for me is resale value. I have a sneaking suspicion that when it comes to sale the custom exhausts will make the bike more desirable but don't know that to be fact. Any experience either way on that one? Thanks again!

Hi all, I own a Dragstar Custom with a number of after market parts including a set of slash cut exhausts (i think they are Jardine - not entirely sure as they were on the bike when I bought it). They get pretty hot when running the bike and have so far caused a pretty harsh burn to my arm and have melted my girlfriend's trousers onto them. Recently my neighbour backed into the bike causing some damage to a number of parts including the exhausts. This leave me with a choice between replacing the exhausts with similar ones, or replacing them with factory standard. I kind of like the sound the customs give and accept that standard ones will not have that. However they will be less faff and stress to have replaced by the garage that are currently doing the rest of the work. My question is: Will the factory exhausts be any better at keeping cool or will the too be trouser meltingly hot? If they're gonna get hot I might as well stick with some cool sounding custom pipes, but if they stay cool I think I'll plump for the easy and less ear-bleedingly loud route. Thanks in advance!
