If it's an XS400J, your air boxes do come out. All you have to do is unscrew the bar clip that holds them on. There is one screw holding these on at the bottom, and the clip on the top. You're going to have to completely take the carbs apart to clean them properly, otherwise you will continue to have problems. As long as you don't turn the Sync screw, you won't have to readjust it. The Sync assembly does not need to be adjusted to separate the carbs, you can just pull them apart, as the it's spring loaded. You will find some manual information in the "XS400" links Thread, at the top of the Classics Forum.

Did you purchase the o-ring for the mixture screws? Those are, so says MikesXS, needed for the bike to idle properly.

Not a problem. I ordered the performance wire simply because I thought my finace would like yellow, they don't seem to be any different other than the color. If you like yellow, get them, if not then I would just get the regular black ones. Those Iridium plugs seem like a bum deal to me, I haven't bothered with them. That's just my

Prices might be good, but travel costs would negate any savings. Just too far away.

What size fuse are you using for the main?

Everything looks good, except for the fuel line, that one is too wide.

Check mixture screws. If you have them turned out less than 3.5 times, that's probably the issue.

Don't you hate it when you haven't been a able to ride for a while, and you have a day with nice weather, but you go out to start the bike...dead battery. There are downsides to having a security system on your bike.

The more I look at the Duke, the more it seems like the best looking of the bunch. I liked the front and seat of the Honda better at first, but I think the Duke has captured my eye more.

I like the look of it, but this one has a little more. You pay for it though. Or at only $10,000 Both have more power, though that may not be what you are interested in. I like the look of all three bikes, but if I had to choose based on looks, I'd probably go with the Honda.
