  1. One I think. How hard is it to find a jet? Will I know what size is in atm?
  2. I'VE ALREADY FOUND THESE AND WAS TALKING ABOUT 'EM. shh, don't post them. someone else might find them !!!!! SHOTGUN THESE PIPES - to anyone on this forum Anyway, jokes aside, these are ideal as they're made for the bikey. Would I need re-jetting? How hard is that? Chris
  3. as in get some fabricated??? hmm that could be rather 'spensive.
  4. Okay so as some of the regulars will know I've been looking forward to some exhausts for me xvs 125 draggy-boy. Firstly - does anyone have any cool (AND CHEAP!!!) ideas as to what to do. Secondly - if I bought some custom slash-cuts or something (just then end cans) off ebay would I need to re-jet and, if so, how hard is that? Chris EDIT i KNOW it's a 125, and it will never sound like a HD Fatboy. Please, no rants about trying to make my motorbike sound big when it's not. I just hate the look of the stock mufflers.
  5. ah indeed it's not the stock V-twin so you cant have two exhaust exits. I was thinking about having one each side when I chop mine. I.e. one of the pipes coming down the left and and then one of them coming down the right - oh and then upturning and going/pointing at the rear of the bike - get me? But that's all a "pipe dream" at the moment - but wow £30 for the exhaust system! REALLY good idea about the 2 fenders though - nice one. Chris
  6. I'm still trying to work out what's going on with that fender mount There's like one that looks tied onto some struts - is that a cut-down original one? And another that's resting on the rear wheel - the fiberglass one?? How hard was it to make that seat??? I love the look of it - and when I FINALLY decide to chop mine I'll probably use a springer... Also, it's not really hard to change the shocks is it? Is it more a case of finding them? COULD you go full-bob, and just remove the shocks and replace them with a bit of metal??? That would look nice, but shocks are still good... What ya got planned for the pipes?
  7. Ummmmm They LOOK a bit lighter - you've got like black stuff on that right??? There doesn't seem to be too much of that precipitate - seem a bit "cleaner"??? Chris
  8. I think you're addicted to bikes Paul... Looks good though - especially the paint jobbie Chris
  9. I'll nick me dad's camera when he's out tomorrow morning... It seems to be running nicely though... I've sorted the spring and cables etc out - and got the right idling speed (I didn't notice how high it was when I first jammed it in and then turned it on and vroooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom! it almost took off. haha) Anyway I'll ring ya tomorrow because of one thing taking up my whole evening. WORLD CUP! Chris
  10. Right I just took it across Kingston Upon Thames (along the river) to see me nan and it worked fine (although the throttle not springing back very much was a bit annoying) so gonna give that a fix before riding to work tomorrow... Sorry I couldn't get it any clearer mate. Damn, this means I have to take it all apart again haha. I'll PM you my mob. number - could be easier. Chris
  11. IT WAS ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS EVER. Only made worse by the fact that I was working outside on my south-facing drive. ach. sunburn much? Yeah it doesn't QUITE sound normal - I still need to properly spring the throttle cables (I think it's just giving the spring underneath on the carb another twisty roung). But yeah, it's running a bit strangely. But then again - it's a new engine - this time with working pistons (I hope/should expect!) so I don't really know what "normal" is. So what needs doing to the carb - exactly? Chris
  12. I HAVE A WORKING BIKE! STARTED THE ENGINE UP THIS MORNING AND IT WORKS! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I'M OVER THE MOON Haven't tested it on the road yet though. Cheeeeeeeeeeeeers Chris
  13. Well the new engine is bolted in so... yeah I guess! I bet it doesn't bloody work when I do. haha. If it doesn't - I'll resign it and send it to the mechanics to fit. And I bet he tells me I buggered it all up. haha. Has anyone else ever got nervous after doing their own work?! ahahahaha. And yeah, everything should slot into place but - inevitable - doesn't hah. I can't remember the comedian who said that when they take something apart, and put it back together, they're always left with screws and bolts they didn't re-attach yet can't find where they belong. But that's not a problem. That's called efficiency. They do the same job with LESS PARTS. haha. no. that's not my philosophy btw.
  14. FIGURED IT OUT. Are you saying something about my mechanical skills! haha No, seriously, I'm sh1t. haha. I feel like a few pints tonight though - seeing how hot it is!
  15. Riiiiiiiight the main problem is it wont spring back. Like the spring assembly under the round turney-bit which the cables are attached to doesn't seem to attach anyway? Thanks for yer time too guys... I know I'm a pain and I don't know much and have a very vague way of describing nearly all of my problems... Therefore I will send you all some beers afterwards. If you're local - I might even deliver them on my bike Chris
  16. Will do. One minute. Problems at the moment include the throttle cables and the clutch cable. I dunno - I'll get my mate to look at the clutch cable. But will get pics in a sec.
  17. Anyone got a picture of their carb attached to the throttle cables? Me, being stupid, forgot how they attach (and where the spring underneath goes). I know - I'm a dipshit and should have taken pictures. There's a few problems at the moment... Chris
  18. There is one threaded end and one non-threaded end. It is stuck in the threaded end. But heating it up + wd 40 + mole grips + dad turning the bend as i turned the grips = bolt out. Now, to put it all back together, which I cant do, because I cant get the bloody throttle cables onto the carburettor twisty ring bit. I'm sure it's just a matter of fiddling about with it until I get the spring in etc. Then I'm sailing in home attaching everything back on, and hopefully I'll have a working bike. Who knows! haha. I finally got the clutch lever on - anyone else ever had trouble attaching that? Chris
  19. Okay I'll whack it. But but but if it breaks I'm screwed. How can it NOT thread? How is it held in?! lol I'll trytrytry Chris
  20. I'll wait for tomorrow. If I can't do it, I'll pop down the mechs down the road. They SHOULD be able to do it right? Anyway, I'm off to bed. Cheeeers for all the great replys guys Chris
  21. hahaha I love the way people put things on the forum Um - any proposition where I should get diesel oil from at 22.30 ??? Lol I have a bench, and a vice, and some grips, and a torch. Or at least - I know my daddy does Chris
  22. See, that bit, that links the exhaust to the engine. Notice the half a bolt sticking out... They were taken on a phone - sorry for bad quality. I'm not too keen on welding - I've never really welded before. In fact, using a torch is quite daunting. I'm only 17 and have previously got my dad to do everything for me. Yes, I do live with my dad. Yes, he doesn't condone me having a bike. Yes, he refuses to help with it. Yet - he paid £200 to get me recovered the other week, and lent me £350 for a new engine. Oh, and I'm using all his tools Chris
  23. uploading now...
  24. That sounds about right. Um, yeah it's not the bolt that's bent - it's the bent bit it goes into The bolt is straight with no head (from where I cut it off)... so it may be a bit harder. I'll have to find a torch from somewhere... and I'm sure if got some MOLE grips somewhere Chris
  25. Camera's working again - just needed a re-charge it seems. Give it 10 mins, I'll have them pics up. EDIT no it's not. Let me try to describe it again. If you're looking at a picture, follow the top exhaust up the vertical bit until it ends and gets to the attachment. The bit that it attaches to isn't part of the exhaust nor the engine, rather a joining bit - a "bend" between the exhaust and engine. THAT bit. Chris
