  1. Yeah man I'm in Esher... near Kingston & Surbiton, how about you?
  2. Okay, as we all know, it's remembrance Sunday on the 14th November this year. Sorry for posting early, I just need to get some interest in this to make it worthwhile. So basically, I used to go to school here, Until I got expelled and banned from the site (don't ask ) It's very military-based and every year they have an amazing Remembrance Day Parade... - scroll through some videos, it's very good. ANYWAY, I promised someone I'd go up every year to watch this, so I thought I'd take a rideout through some great roads on Saturday, stay Saturday night at a camp-site just behind the school next to Alton Water, watch the parade on Sunday, then head home. The school is based on an AONB, and the roads are very, very lovely. The campsite is too, brilliant and set on a really, REALLY, big reservoir. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=The+Ace+Cafe,+London&daddr=Brentwood+to:Billericay+to:maldon+to:Tolleshunt+D'Arcy,+Maldon+to:Layer-de-la-Haye,+Colchester+to:Ardleigh,+Colchester+to:Manningtree+to:Holbrook,+Ipswich&hl=en&geocode=%3BFR-uEwMdVaoEACnB9heb8JXYRzFZKulZZWCHhQ%3BFfTPEwMdJm0GACmxfpoqVr_YRzEeVcQcBYCm1w%3BFcBaFQMdOEsKACnVmBWrGN7YRzEqzX3wt50umg%3BFVYAFgMd-yIMAClPBwNuJBzZRzHGY2Ug8_UP5Q%3BFYAUFwMdvwsNACnN9RtGVQPZRzFKTURH-PJvSw%3BFctTGAMdbgkPAClxcfEnhAXZRzEUBlmd4KumTQ%3BFeSfGAMd1TAQACldL_f-1AjZRzHvuX3CuL3sGA%3B&mra=ls&dirflg=h&sll=51.927331,0.883026&sspn=0.449676,1.352692&ie=UTF8&ll=51.633362,0.203247&spn=0.905227,2.705383&t=h&z=9 Here's the route, it's avoiding motorways because they're big and smelly and ugly, and because it's open to all riders regardless of ability. This isn't one to miss, and should be a very, very, VERY fun weekend - Promise Let me know if you're interested. EDIT, the postcode of the destination is IP9 2RX - if you need to look it up.

Okay so perhaps not lower - maybe more - laid back??? Sitting back a touch - you know.. So firstly some more laid back bars... perhaps, and then mount some universal pegs onto the engine guards to move my feet forward... maybe. WHo knows? not me.. that's for sure

Ah I am thinking maybe Z-Bars now... I really want to lower my bike though... it sits too - hmm -flat?? That just a case of changing the shocks??? Any measurements for them, or idea where to get some?

Anyone contemplated fitting them to a draggy? I would like to, just seems complicated a little getting all the cables a little longer???
  6. No, the "balance" pipe goes from the top downpipe to the bottom cylinder... meaning I can't take the cylinder off ALONE, without removing the top downpipe (which I wanted to keep on!).... Ahhh it's all very confusing. I think it is possible to remove a balance pipe though, I'll google up. Chris
  7. Saying all this - will a set of xvs 650 straight-through pipes fit the xvs 125??? Chris
  8. christofeser replied to christofeser's post in a topic in Yamaha Customs
I'm up for that How big a turnout you reckon we could shoot???
  9. christofeser replied to christofeser's post in a topic in Yamaha Customs
We could have a YOC rideout to Belgium!

I'm in South London, near Surrey. Any more people interested??
  11. cheers for posting mate sound good? Anyone with them? But here's the problem - the original top muffler appears to be part of the downpipe, which is attached to the bottom muffler! I think I might have to take it to a mechanic, to get the balance pipe removed. Chris
  12. Oh god not the whole picture debate again... haha. Okay I'll get some up later/tomorrow... I think I'll need someone who does know the exhaust system on the bike... it's rather specific Anyway, I'll get them up... cheers

Simply - who's up for one? There must be a mutual place where we can all get together on our Yamaha's and have a little ride? Chris
  15. Problems are: 1. there is a balance pipe between the top downpipe and the bottom muffler, so i can't remove the bottom muffler without doing something with the balance pipe... 2. The top muffler seems part of the downpipe, can anybody confirm this? I might speak to the mechanic round the corner, or just wait until some h/h's pop up next.
  16. It seemed rather fixed on when I last had it off. I'll have another look when the baby has cooled down. If they do, then I'm a happy bunny Chris
  17. okay. LAST QUESTION. I promise. Do the stock mufflers come off? I know they come off the bottom pipe but is the top one FIXED onto the small pipe (downpipe - I think it's called)?? Because if I were to remove them and put on another set of mufflers, or just remove mufflers completely, I'm not too keen on chopping the stock exhaust without having a spare one... for the MOT and that.
  18. Are there any on here? Particularly from South London/Surrey??? Wat d'ya ride? Chris
  19. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190326983576&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_928 try that. If anybody could send a link to some GOOD and CHEAP exhaust tape on ebay it would be hugley appreciated. I don't know which to choose Chris
  20. Was the problem with mine It's also worth getting some cold-start/easy-start, just so you don't have to stick the tank back on every time to see if it starts
  21. Achhhh I was bidding on some Highway Hawk ones on ebay and lost 'em. Any ideas where I can find some other ones? These went for £80. I thought I'd buy a set BECAUSE of the MOT I'd have the old set still... But now, seeing as I can't find any, I'm thinking of cutting off the mufflers as suggested, and putting the already posted tips on the end. http://cgi.ebay.co.u...IT#ht_500wt_928 these ones, and then wrapping the downpipe and original bits left from the exhaust.... seeeee? Or bad plan?
  22. Am I right in thinking that the xv and the xvs use the same engine Paul? If so, the choke cable will come out like many other cables on the bike - perhaps, if it's too tight, give it some free-play on the handlebar side. I took apart my xvs125 loads recently - it's DEFINITELY worth checking it out. And I've got exactly the same problem with my engine. When we eventually got it started (by putting oil in spark plug hole) it would max out around 10mph so yeah the compression was f**cked. I still haven't got round to changing me rings yet. I'm enjoying my new engine as it is . Perhaps Paul will give me a tutorial sometime! haha. All I can say is charge the battery, and try starting it with oil in the cylinder. One of those squirty-bottle things is DEFINITELY worthwhile. Hope this helps. Chris
  23. are you for real?! I LOVE loud pipes. Like is the sound - "wrong" ? Or just neighbour-waking?? I can't be much help here, sorry, I'll just let ya know that if you REALLY can't find a solution - I'll pay the £60 + p&P for you to sell them on
  24. ohh I see. Fair play, it will still need re-jetting though? And will that still sound good? Should I wrap them over the chrome stuff, which would make them look bigger? Also, how much is a stock set? Chris
  25. ach it always get's more complicated Okay what I'm going to do is find a set on ebay... BUT could i not just atach something like this --> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190326983576&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_928 --> to each of the pipes??? Might make it look a bit better. Chris
