Also where is the tail light going. p.s. sorry for everyone who has stumbled across this and thinks we're using the forum for a personal convo.

650 Dragstar........... girls' bike??
As far as I'm concerned, a bike is a bike - it is not affiliated with gender. The fact you're riding in the first place is a bonus. Yeah there are bikes that are more "manly" but just because of that doesn't make them suitable for girls. Tell us, what does he suggest for a manly bike? If I'm honest, I'd say ride what ever you wanna ride. If you like the look of it, the feel of it, and the ride of it, then who cares what anyone else says? Sorry I can't be of too much help - I'm just saying Chris

My baby drag needs some TLC!
Pfffft. Garaged during winter. Pansy. That was my welcome to the forum by the way Right well I once had some REALLY tough stains on the front pipe and used a soft wire-brush drill bit to get it up. only REALLY lightly with A SOFT brush though, or you mess it up slightly... People are gonna hate me for that.. but it worked well and I swear by it. Like dogging - don't knock it till you've tried it! (that was a joke, by the way, i am NOT a dogging fanatic). HOWEVER I AM a dragstar fanatic! And I use the oldest chrome polish in the world from the 1980's that I found in the back of my grans shed. I swear by it. Better than autosol or peek or anything else I've ever bought. I'll have a look at the brand and get back to ya. As for the plasic parts - I use chrome polish on that too. I can't tell ya what to do about bubbling though But hey, isn't it good to have a girl on the draggy side!!! Take it easy. Chris

Crashed the bike !
Dragstar? And the mangled bars do you mean the engine bars or the handle bars? And have you got a service manual... I don't touch electrics mind. Chris

XVS 125 air filter
I'll try it when my new fender arrives :P hurry hurry hurry please! If that doesn't float my boat, I'll fab some up. Chris

XVS 125 air filter
Are you suggesting the sissy bar mounts are strong enough to stand the weight of the bike + me?! And how do you stick em on??? I might ask a friend to fabricate some struts... he's gooooood at welding. Chris

125 Riders in London
Cheers for the reply. I'm normally at boxhill on the weekends. I'm riding down to see a mate in Chichester this Friday though - that's near Bognor isn't it? Chris

XVS 125 air filter
Oh Paul, your money is on it's way. Did I see in one of your bobber project threads that you have a pair of shocks that lower the bike that aren't being used? Or some struts that are sturdy enough? I fancy lowering it... Chris

XVS 125 air filter
I'll have a look later. I'm just bored of the big shield... hah! Cheers mate
-
XVS 125 air filter
Okay it was only to display style... Are you saying I have to cut a hole in the shield to fit it? And then how hard will it be to fit? Is it a case of clipping the mofo on (if I can get the right sizes???

XVS 125 air filter
yesyesyesyeysyes! another one of my threads about customising my draggy! Paul and I have agreed to make a nice rear seat and fender, and now I want to finish the package. And now I want this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Brand-New-UNIVERSAL-HIGH-POWER-CONE-AIR-FILTER-RED-/350385379190?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5194989776 Could I fit an air filter like that onto my draggy in any way? Would I need re-jetting? Chris

Ape Hangers
You don't think I'd need to do too much cable extending??????? And yeah - bought the wire brush attachment a while back. Best thing I ever bought!!!!
-
Ape Hangers
PM sent buddy. I'm now also contemplating fitting some Z bars, because I (hopefully) wont have to extend cables to do it. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150483668056&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT something like that, which are cheap and I could polish up and would look sweeeeeet (I think) What dya think?

warrior
http://www.motorbikestoday.com/reviews/Articles/yam_warrior.htm dont know how much it's gonna cost ya mate. One pulled up next to me at the Ace Cafe the other week, they are BIG, but low at the same time. I'd try and get it out for a ride - it looks like one of those love it or hate it jobbies. sorry that's all I can help ya with...
-
Ape Hangers
all right, will do - i've got your number somewhere... But do it! Let's open up a customs shop!!!!! PLEASE? lOL
-
Ape Hangers
Which begs the question - why don't you build customs for a living!!!!!! haha, this is a dream of mine make a living from buying, doing up/customising, and selling them on. Anyway, I'll have to think - I'm very short on cash right now. I've probably got £150 though... will it really have that wow factor dyu recon???!! If so, it would be good to mount round the original rear fender - I really don't want to do too much chopping! haha. I'm off to Ireland now till Monday, so start planning it. It's probably got the OK Chris
-
Ape Hangers
wow... but would I have to do some chopping? and how much would be paid for said "seat"....
-
Ape Hangers
Mine have seized and consequentially rounded - probably due to the F**cker who owned it before me trying to get them out... But yeah fender bolts are fine. What sort of seat dyu mean though? Will it be easy enough to mount, and won't it be REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE without padding or spring? Perhaps thats a feel I might like... who know's until I've tried it Yeah the chromey bits are around £40 squids on ebay - a price I could do without paying at this minute... I could go without them for a while I guess... may look silly - I just don't have the dosh though... Saying that - it might look all right after all... hmm As for the seat - if it's nice I'll probably want a tribal design on it - how would that be done?? CHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHERRRRS chris
-
Ape Hangers
I would really like a sprung seat on it. My next problem is the fender... it would look fine with the normal one on - just without the rear seat & sissybar... However I have the gay silver bits that point up FOR the sissy bar. So I could but a new fender - but to mount it I would need to chop the original mounts... which I probably dont want to do... I could always just remove the gay silver bits altogether??? But I'm not sure how that'd look...
-
Ape Hangers
I dont know how to re-wire it or make the cables longer for the hangers. I'm not actualy sure how much longer it would need to be?? I don't want them TOO high... I'll have a look round for seats - will it be like the classic sprung one?? I think it would keep the value the same - maybe. If not more.
-
Ape Hangers
Okay so here's what I want: 1) a smaller seat, Paul how much dya want for a sexy looking one? 2) a close fit rear fender. How hard is it to mount? Will I have to chop the original fender mounts off? 3) Ape Hangers... anyone knows a garage that will fit these for me? I don't want to be messing round with wires etc... - or is it quite easy?? Furthermore - will this all decrease the value of the bike??? I mean - I'm looking to do my test soon... and move on to a 650 hopefully...
-
Electrical system suddenly died
if the 650 is similar to the 125, then check the cable coming from the starter motor is tight enough... it's located at the front of the engine underneath a rubber boot. IF that's not the problem - I can't help ya mate. Chris

Ape Hangers
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Chopper-Seat-bobber-hardtail-sprung-seat-/280548127717?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts#ht_500wt_1154 SO I could fit this... although I now have the problem of what to do with the rear seat... The shiny bits on the fender are the ones for the sissy bar and therefore point upwards at the rear... moreover - the bolts holding them onto the fender have been rounded. Anyone got the ones for no sissybar - and might want to swap it for the alternate ones?? Otherwise I'll have to find a new set (or - as suggested - chop the fender). Paul, aren't you rather handy at making rear fenders for this bike? I shall pay for your services Chris

Hello... and can someone clear this up for me!?
Paulwhite (I think) is your man... PAUL - WHERE ARE YOU!
