  1. to the forum Drew. What you've got there sure looks like a DT50 to me Cool Resto project
  2. Give that infamous DT a run for it's money!
  3. ....could use one of these for those times when you're "waiting for parts" ....
  4. Sounds like a good plan of action there Twisted I DO know that you'll definitely notice a difference with braided lines........well worth the money IMHO As far as fork springs are concerned.......that really boils down to Personal Preference.......Rider Weight vs. Riding Style type of thing. After you spend some time in the saddle of your XJ, you'll know what I mean.
  5. Fork springs & Braided lines is a pretty straight-forward swap there Andy & I'd tend to think that'd be a reasonably priced upgrade.......well worth the money. BTW......good to see ya around.........Don't be a Stranger!
  6. Sounds & looks like it might THEE ticket for your situation there Twisted

    Sorry Boys

Well, @ least you didn't buy a H*nda! Looks like you've already found the ZZR's weak spot with that rear shock that seems to have a short life span

    im still alive

& from the ashes, the infamous DT Meister rears his ugly head! Good to see ya again there Mozz!
  9. Not sure on how to get that kind of info from Yamaha ....... But that'd be a good question to ask .......>HERE!
  10. Prolly right there Pete........forgot about the fork spring issue
  11. New pads & some braided lines will probably cure that.
  12. Riding an old Enduro in the snow on 2-Wheels is a blast in itself!

to the Forum Martin FZR400's have always been one of my fav's.
  14. Sounds like an early to mid 70's DT250, Eric I used to have a 73 DT125 that I bought for 150 bucks ....Great little bike! Check if there's a Manufacturing Date somwhere near that stamped frame number......If you found it up high near the fuel tank....That'll tell ya what year it is Just change the spark plug..... Check the interior condition of the fuel tank......if rusty, you can remove it & rinse it out with some deisel fuel to get rid of some of that Then add fresh fuel..... charge the battery or maybe replace it depending the bike's condition? ....& then start kickin'! ...to see if there's any life left in it. Hope this Helps..... BTW.....I almost forgot to the Forum!
  15. Well, I've been off my XT for a month now.....& I'll be the 1st to say: It's Drivin' Me MAD! I've done a full electrical check on my XT550 after it quit for no appearant reason whilst getting on the Freeway on the way to work one Friday morning........after scratching my head alot, I decided to call a Bike Mechanic friend of mine who actually likes electrical challenges! We checked all the voltages on the signal coils down @ the crank which were fine.....So we then came to the conclusion that the Primary coil right above the motor, was possibly the culprit........2 weeks & $90 later.....it wasn't! .......So now I'm faced with replacing the only possible culprit left in the No-Spark equation.....the CDI box......which I just ordered for $320! ....the dealer price on this item is well over $350, but I found a good source online for OEM factory parts.....HERE! So far, this has turned out to be real pain in the ass........ But with any luck @ all, My XT will be good to go for quite awhile, once the CDI shows up @ my door.
  16. Like any good Wheeler-Dealer knows.......if want to get something cheap, you gotta buy it during the "Off" season! Stroker Powered Snow Toy
  17. Tend to agree there Ross! Those lights DO look weird but work quite well .......to me, it looks like a Triumph wannabe If it was MY bike.....I'd have a single headlight inside a front number plate......sorta like the one on this BadBoy ........
  18. Indeed!....better late than Never Appy Birfday NT!
  19. The BlackBird is one of the few exceptions that even a YamaJunkie wouldn't mind having! Nice Score Bazz.
  20. Here's a pic of my last XJ550 ..... I'd racked up over 130k on the clock when I sold it.......& it's still running strong to this day. Man, I miss this bike sometimes!
  21. Here's the latest creation from Moto-Carrera's SpeedShop ...... the Latigo Canyon Special Modded RD400, complete with aluminum swingarm, custom spannies & a DG radial finned head. I bet this beaut doesn't weigh much over 300lbs.
  22. Twisted..... The biggest difference would be the weight, I would think......not that difficult to get used to though ......XJ's are great bikes!......especially for everyday commuting duties. I've owned (3) 550's....& a 750......all of 'em stone reliable machines. I'd still like to own a Divvy or Seca2 as they're known as over here......just haven't ran across the right deal yet. Best of Luck with your search for one.
  23. Great to see Nitro Nori back in the hunt for some WSB points with a podium finish in the 2nd race @ Silverstone today! Pulled off a 4th in the 1st race due to a fuel delivery prob.........but got the holeshot in the 2nd race & ended up getting a 3rd when the checkers came out Also interesting to see the Ducati boyz give Corser some grief @ the front too.
  24. Man, that was a tough one! Anything else we can help you with exes1100?
  25. If that XS is anything like the bigger XJ's.......it might be under the tank attached to the frame backbone
