Move along....nothing to see here.....except that El Ginge & his Namby-Pamby riding conditions. Don't wanna steal his thunder.....he'll be bikeless again in a year's time. Nice Pics Pete.

Looks like a Hooligan' commute to me! Guy needs a SuperMoto for when the tarmac runs out & there's nothing but sidewalks & parking lots left!

  12. Had this issue with a few Yamaha's in the past.......but fortunately NOT with my 550......although due to lack of everyday use, I inadvertantly snapped off the lever right @ the pivot ....which coulda been cured with a shot of WD. The gaskets in the tap assembly itself tend to dry out & become brittle after being stored for some time. I ended up buying a new tap from MOTOGRID which was $35 well spent. FYI....the MotoGrid site is great for referencing with the exploded parts views.
  13. Practice = 2nd nature Before you know it......Rights & Lefts will feel equally re-assuring.
  14. YamaHead replied to DJ Rusty's topic in The Bar
Actually DJ...... Your mileage should improve a bit after your bike has been "Ran In" Everything loosens up a little & as long as you keep after the oil & plugs........there's no reason the MPG shouldn't improve.
  15. Good thing is that Yam clutches are a Piece Of Cake to change out.
  16. In my experience......this scenario seems to be an issue with most older Yamaha's....... Could be a sign of your flasher relay on it's last leg? My Seca used to do this......unless the revs were up....then it worked fine.
  17. YamaHead replied to mdonnelly's topic in The Bar
Takin a stab here.........most YamaThumps I've seen have the oil filter in the upper right side of the crankcase just below the barrel .......mine even has "oil filter" stamped on it. BTW.... to the forum
