    long way round

Traveling Light is the Only Way to Fly!
  2. to the Forum RT! I've always liked those FZR400's. Another possibility might be getting some FZR600 bodywork to fit?......the mounting points might be a bit closer to what you have on your 400.
  3. Yeah, all the other bikes I've been interested in are too far away.......would end up paying for the bike again.....in fuel costs or shipping charges! The only issue with this XT, is a small oil leak near the shock mount (frame carries oil)......which I think can be cured with a bit of JB Weld. I like all the new UFO plastics including the handguards! .......which BTW, I dug up my old Answer velcro-on handguards from my old Bultaco the other day......got 'em on the Maxim now.....looks a bit weird, but definitely saves me from the white finger syndrome with the freezing temps we've been having lately.
  4. Sh*t's gettin' kinda deep around here.......time for the Kwak owner to start passin' out the Hip-Waders with his posts! PW50 DT125 SR250 XS400 Special x2 XS400R Seca RD400F XJ550 Seca x3 XS650 XJ750 Maxim Now last time I checked......7 wasn't ALOT more than 12 ......this guy gets a Kwak & thinks he's King Sh*t!
  5. It's a Helluva lot more interesting than me sitting here waiting for the ICE to melt off everything! ....as i just made it home on Friday night from work before all the freezing rain came. Being on a bit of a limited budget lately, I've been keeping an eye on this...... XT that I found & another plus is that it's the 1st bike I've found in Oregon.....only 2 hrs. drive away......so fingers crossed
  6. I was wondering the very same thing.
  7. That sounds like blast Alex! I too, have always wanted to try that.
  8. Great Idea for a website! We need something like that for over here.
  9. back Mark!.....Yup, outside of the usual Yamaha quirks (vibes), it's good to hear that it's ticking away like the 2-wheel Timex that it is. I've got my eye on a few Divvy's up on Ebay lately......hopefully I'll end up with one before summer get's here, so I don't have to limp my poor Maxim down to Monterey for the GP
  10. This scenario reminds me of a "fix" that the bike shop owner that I used to work for, would use on demanding arrogant asshole customers that always wanted more for their money.......He'd put 'em down for a full tune-up & the only thing we'd do was armor-all their seat, along with a splash of 114 octane racing fuel! .....They'd come back swearing that was the best their bike had ever run! I think a new seat cover would be the best cure....as it's usually the opposite that seems to be a prob.....seen racers put chalk powder on their seats to ease the hanging off procedure in the corners.....but in this case, outside of a new seat cover, the best bet would be some velcro on the seat of your trousers!
  11. TDR....those pet hates sound waaaay too much like here!
  12. What I do know is that they're TZ250 GP motors......probably crank out around 90+ HP. The real amazing thing is how fast the corning speeds are.
  13. Former 500cc World Champions Wayne Rainey, Eddie Lawson and Kevin Schwantz were joined by with three-time U.S. Superbike champion Doug Chandler at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Thursday in preparation for the Superstars of Super Karts race, one of the support events at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix in July. While Rainey and Lawson have raced Super Karts several times on the 2.238-mile, 11-turn road course in the hills outside Monterey, it was the first time Schwantz and Chandler had driven the high-performance karts anywhere. "I've been trying to get these guys (Schwantz and Chandler) into a Super Kart for a while," said Rainey, who lives in Monterey. "I think they were impressed." "That was a lot more fun than riding a bike around here," said Schwantz. "I didn't much care for this track on a bike, but these Super Karts are a kick to drive here. I was smiling the whole way around the track." "People look at these Super Karts and think they are cute little toys, but hey haul butt around here," according to Lawson, who set the Super Kart lap record at Laguna Seca in 2003 with an effort of 1’23.875, which represents an average speed of 100.864 mph and is quicker than Troy Bayliss’ World Superbike lap record. Chandler, who competed in 54 Grand Prix motorcycle races, enjoyed his first taste of Super Karts. "Driving a Super Kart around here is completely different than racing a motorcycle. These karts have so much more grip than a bike through the corners. It is going to take some getting used to, physically. But this is just a good opportunity for us to get together on the race track again. The Superstars of Super Karts will feature several motorcycle racing champions competing against some of the top drivers in Super Kart racing, including European and Australian/New Zealand champions, in 250cc racing karts. Super Karts feature semi-enclosed bodywork and rear wings and reach speeds up to 140mph at Laguna Seca. I personally like the custom HandleBar controls on Rainey's Kart. Can't wait for the GP this July

    Bitch Slap

Those fools could use a good BitchSlappin'!
  15. I can totally relate to that Women Talking thing! But I really can't stand Yuppie Cell-Phone jockeys that drive SUV's & Mini-Vans! They never watch their mirrors.......until of course, I drill 'em with the High Beam It seems like those same types are the ones who can't see past a 2ft. radius when they're in the grocery store also. It's amazing what you can see when you spend time on 2-wheels regularly.
  16. HEY!......I resemble that remark! But @ least not All my hair is that lovely shade of gray. Bazz!......pound a few pints for me mate
  17. Could be that your oil pump needs to be adjusted......sounds like it's running a bit rich ........that's assuming of course, that you're NOT running pre-mix. BTW..... to the Forum
  18. Looks ready for action now Pete! .....which means you'll have to keep that bucket of soapy water handy. Hey speaking of good buys & BMX's.......I just scored from an avid Ebay'r friend of mine.......A pair of practically New BMX wheels & tires, A 21-speed Mtn. Bike, & a pair of 198 cm Rossingnol Snow Ski's w/ Bindings.....all for only $30! ....which equates out to a just a bit over 15GBP ......needless to say, I'm happy
  19. If you can HotWire it.......(Screwdriver across both posts on the starter)....& it starts, then maybe the starter button itself might need tending to Thoroughly clean the starter button assembly & lube it well with WD..... Just a thought
  20. Very Sad Indeed! Meoni was an absolute Icon in the 2-Wheel Rally world! Hats Off to the guy for being an inspiration & still participating in such a huge event @ the age of 47 It Never Fails.......the Dakar Rally has yet again, taken another life.
  21. Honk.....that is 1 Bitchin' TRX. Looks like it'd be a Kick in the Pants to ride!
  22. It's gonna be awesome to see him on a Yam again.
  23. Yeah, I've always questioned the hinge area on those type of lids.
  24. Haga returns to Yamaha for 2005 10/1/2005 Yamaha has signed popular Japanese rider Noriyuki Haga to complete its line-up for the 2005 Superbike World Championship season. Haga will race a YZF-R1 for the Milan-based Yamaha Motor Italia team, reuniting him with the brand on which he made his name in the late Nineties. The Japanese ace was a Yamaha rider between 1994 and 2001 and during this period he won 11 world superbike races, taking a best championship finish of second in the 2000 season, Yamaha's last year of official participation in the series. Last year Noriyuki rode a privately-entered Ducati to six wins and third in the series, a result bettered only by the Italian manufacturer's factory entered riders. Haga will have his first experience of the R1 when he joins team-mate Andrew Pitt in a three day test at the Phillip Island circuit in Australia later this month. Pitt has already completed two tests with the R1, both at Valencia in Spain, which Haga was unable to attend for contractual reasons. In addition to Yamaha Motor Europe's officially-supported Italian squad, a number of other long-standing Yamaha teams have announced their intention to independently enter the 2005 Superbike World Championship using race-kitted YZF-R1 machinery. Among the teams due to line-up on the grid this year are: Yamaha Motor France, who will enter former Grand Prix riders Norifumi Abe and Sebastien Gimbert; European Superstock Champions Lorenzini by Leoni, who are running Italian rider Gianluca Vizziello; and reigning Endurance World Champions Yamaha GMT94, who are intending to enter selected rounds with Spanish rider David Checa. Noriyuki Haga "I'm looking forward to returning to Yamaha and turning the R1 into a winner! I am on holiday with my family just now so I should be feeling good when I meet up with the team for my first ride on the bike, at Phillip Island later this month. I'm very happy to be staying in superbikes and joining this good team. As everyone knows, I love this championship and I've also worked with many of my mechanics before, and also the people at Yamaha Europe, so it will not feel all new to me. It should be fun!" Claudio Consonni - Racing Manager, Yamaha Motor Italia "We're all very excited about Noriyuki joining us for this year. He is one of the all-time greats of world superbike and a very popular rider. Already there is a great spirit within the team after Andrew's valuable feedback and performances in our early tests and now we're looking forward to getting out to Australia for our first test with both riders." Laurens Klein Koerkamp (Racing Manager, Yamaha Motor Europe) "We're looking forward to working with Nori-chan again. His performances last year showed that his is as fast as ever and he is also such a popular rider - that is good for us, the championship and our fans. The Samuri of Slide is Back!
  25. Yeah, cops around here wear something quite similar to that too.....but I think theirs is from Shoei?
