  1. Thanx Alex! TBH it was pretty dirty from the ride I did the weekend prior..... I just had to show Pete that bikes can be kept reasonably clean AND still be ridden everyday....Rain or Shine!
  2. Martin...that event sounds like 1 Helluva lotta Fun! Am I correct to assume that You are the creator of this Stunning piece of Machinery? ...... Absolutely Brilliant Work! Oh BTW..... to the Forum.
  3. Well it's been 3 or 4 years since I've been skiing @ Mt. Hood Meadows resort......always liked this view from just the parking lot .... It definitely coulda been clearer for weather, but the temps & wind I sure couldn't complain about! For my fellow 2-wheel Compadre's.....This is only 1 reason I Love to Ski! ... As you can see, Mt. Jefferson & the 3 Sisters are fairly clear in view..... Those mountains are halfway down the state of Oregon. But on a really clear day, I've seen Mt. Shasta waaay off in the distance ......that's over an 8 hour drive clear down in California! 1 more from a different, more challenging run..... These were taken somewhere around 6,500ft. elev. There's also a chair lift that takes you up to the 7,500ft. mark.....which is a brilliant place for pics on the right day. But that lift doesn't run @ night due to lack of lighting up that high. My friend & I had decided to take a break halfway through the shift & head back down to his truck for some refreshments.....on the way there, we found a new cafe/bar....trailside @ about 6,000ft .....great place for a Beer & to give the legs a rest. Best part about Mtn. side pubs.....is the Beer's ALWAYS Cold! Also found out that a Frank Thomas rainsuit makes 1 helluva 1-piece ski suit!....Stayed dry & warm all evening. I would highly recommend for any of you to try Snow Skiing if you get the chance........Very similar skills to MotorBike riding & it really hones the foot/eye coordination....& the acceleration rate can be surprising with the right ski/hotwax & steepness combo. Can't see El Mucho Twato(Pete) ever doing this though.....entirely too much Moisture involved!
  4. My guess would be a drain hole for moisture in the pipe.
  5. I would sure think so Ross.....your Yam collection still out-numbers that Beast. To be totally honest here......I just picked up a Bluddy H*nda as well! In the process of sorting this '93 XR80 for my little lad's birthday pressie in May...... Only paid $400 for it......& all's it seems to need is a chain & sprockets, & a coupla cables. I'll post up some more pics of it when I'm finished.

    Engine Oil???

I've been a Castrol man for many years......& NEVER had any probs. Gotta believe it'd be a bit more affordable than RACING oil.
  7. Definitely set up for the twisties when it's heeled over with your knee on the deck.
  8. Finally found that Jap RD site I've been searching for......where there seems to be a fair amount of these Looks like a Japanese version of the Daytona to me. Tidy looking 250 in the same bodywork.

    wtf is going on

As simple as a Google search Mozz ......
  10. You're probably right there Shogg Here's a site that's been handy for me, in terms of sourcing factory parts......MotoGrid Beats the heck outta paying those ridiculous dealer prices!
  11. Being of the UnEmployed nature since the 1st of the year .....I don't see nearly as much seat time as I'm accustomed to being a 20 yr. daily rider. However, I did get a call for a job Interview today, of which I took full advantage of in a 2-Wheel timely fashion. I then took the oppertunity to visit 1 of my favorite watering holes (literally).....Riverside Park on the Clackamas River...... It gave me a chance to have a really good look @ the old Beast in the daylight.....& definitely decide to take up a friends recent offer to Powdercoat the frame & swingarm. My friend is a PowderCoater by trade & promised me a sweet deal on the spray job
  12. to the forum GhostBiker That's definitely a 1 of a kind XJR you've got there Nice choice with the TDM9 I hear that the gearbox is better than the 850's
  13. Bluddy Neighbours! Don't they know that...............LOUD Pipes Save Lives!
  14. to the forum Snake That's a decent looking FZR you picked up there. I've always liked the looks of those frames.
  15. You noticed that too? Definitely NOT for long distance work with a long-legged pilot on board!
  16. The bore may be the same....but they could arrive @ the same displacement by having a slighty different stroke & making up the difference with the con-rod length.....somethin' to think about anyway.
  17. Yep....most RD's have reeds....except the early 70's R5's (pre-RD) strokers that were piston-port.

Good place to start...looking for an XS front end. Even the XS400 would do the job nicely.

Yeah....Big Singles do have their advantages A good friend of mine is selling me a complete front end (from the Grips clear down to the knobbies) from a '92 CR125....all for only $100! I'll just need to source out the correct size bearings for the steering head & then mod the top triple clamp to accept the gauge's from the XT. Next winter, I hope to go through the head with a little polishing & some new valve guides.....Then install some fresh rings while I've got it apart. That same friend is a Metal Fabricator by trade, & said he'd love to help me out with bending up a new tailpipe to match up with a spare Kerker alum. can that I have left over from my old Seca550. So if I play my cards right, this whole mod package shouldn't cost more than about 5 Franklins......& when it's done, I'll be able to do some mean stoppies with it!
  20. I think your premix ratio's are right in the ballpark there Shaggoth As far as mileage.....16mpg!...you must have that beast jetted pretty Fat? I'm pretty sure you could get @ least 20mpg out of a DT......but probably due to a bigger carb, the YZ might be a different story.
  21. The oil pump block off mod is a common 1 on RD's......pretty sure it'd be the same for a DT. Just gotta make sure NOT to pre-mix too lean though. If memory serves me correctly......the compression release is nothing more that a spring-loaded purge valve in the cylinder head......this can be threaded out & replaced with something as simple as a spare spark plug, or some other threaded plug the correct size.
  22. ...the '06 R6 is so popular with most people ..... Seems like it'll be a worthy adversary for the other 600's this year... Judging by the way Jason DiSalvo is exiting this turn @ the Laguna test recently.
  23. Regarding the compression release......they can be easily removed & blocked off with a spare spark plug in most situations. I would think the YZ barrel should work as long as the bolt pattern is the same......might also want to do some research on Bore/Stroke numbers comparing the DT to the YZ.....making sure the con-rod is the right length.
  24. My RD400F works great for similar taunting escapades.
