bike cleaning?
Dish Soap & some Hot Water does the job nicely on my 25 y/o Beast..... As well as some Armor-All to make everything shine again. Now, I'm sure Pete, our resident Polishing Guru , will be along shortly to degrade my cleaning practices Afterall, he does go through more cleaning agents than he does petrol & oil!

What Petrol??
I've only got a 3 gal. tank.....& I ran outta fuel this morning on the way to work! Had to push the old Beast only about a half mile Which means my reserve only lasted about 16 miles ....... But if I refrain from having Rider's Cramp too much.......I can prolly get it to last 20 I'm just glad she's pretty lightweight for a 550

to the forum Gary It could be the stator is your prob with the TT ..... But to be sure, why don't you post your question HERE A wealth of info there.......they've helped me a ton with sorting out issues with my XT

82 Yamaha Maxim
That info is admirable but really only applies to the Seca which has an 18" rear wheel..... Vs. the Maxim's 16". I think the 130/90/16 size, which Dunlop also makes in the K491 Touring Elite, is more fitting for the Maxim. I ran 'em on my 750 Max & had great feedback & tread life Plus keeping with the same brand front & rear does promote longevity. As far as exhausts go......this is what I had on my Seca..... Standard Kerker with the aluminum slip-on.......only cost me $225 delivered right to my door Nice exhaust note.......noticable weight savings.....& easy to maintain

Magnetic tank bags
Haven't used one on an R6......but I've been through 2 of 'em on my Maxim & my XT They work well & seem to be quite affordable depending on the brand.

82 Yamaha Maxim
I rode an 81/82 Seca 550 for 13 years everyday......as well as an '83 750 Maxim for an additional 4 years.....& I can't figure out why you'd change to such an odd size tire for the rear ........not only will it require a diffferent rim, but the geometry will definitely be affected as well. My advice.....stick with the stock rims & throw a pair of Dunlop Touring Elites on 'em...... Best bang for the buck no doubt

1982 650 Maxim Help
I believe the rear shocks are not the same length between the Seca & the Maxim.....I've had both Although the front forks/brakes should swap out without a prob. But, better yet....& cheaper too, is just to upgrade to a steel braided line & some EBC pads.....makes a Helluva difference in feel!

converting kick to electric
to the forum Tom Kickin' a 125 stroker to life is a walk in the park compared to say....a 550 1-lunger like mine Interesting thing is......that back in '73, Yamaha actually made a DT125 with Electric start......I used to have one. For something different.....you could always bump-start the little beast, like I did.

xt 225 luggage rack
to the forum goodie I've been riding my 82 XT550 for the past 2.5 years & love it to bits A good mate of mine just bought an '05 XT225 last year...... I test rode it for him, as he's only got use of his right arm from a MX accident some 20 years prior......so when we got it home to his place, we proceeded to modify it for 1-armed use ...... He had a nice black metal luggage rack on the back which he removed...... I'm scheduled to do a weekend of Dual Sport riding with him next month over in Central Oregon..... & I'll see if he's still got that rack lying around in his garage.....let you know what I find out.
