  1. to the forum Reg Bypassing the sidestand switch is a piece of cake Disconnect the 2 wires from the switch & just twist 'em together completing the circuit Then remove the switch & just tuck the wires away on the frame somewhere out of the way.... To make this a little cleaner, you could trace the wires back to a connector, probably somewhere near the backbone of the frame & cut 'em there before you join 'em to complete that circuit. Another possibility of a culprit to your symptoms, could be a starter relay that's located near the battery...probably what's making that "click" when you hit the starter button. It's certainly not going to hurt anything by doing the switch bypass 1st.....as a process of elimination. Best of Luck & don't give up...you'll find it Pretty common prob with alot of older Yamaha's

    worth the effort

I can only assume that you didn't get any responses to questions that you might have asked in the past?

    400 Special II

The Special II is the "Econo" version....with spoked wheels & a drum front brake I believe. The Special has mag wheels & a disc front brake.....& the Heritage looks to be a combo of both ...with spoked wheels & a disc brake up front.
  4. to the forum Richard Man, this scenario sounds waaaaay too familiar! I had the same issue with my XJ550 Seca...(Predacessor to the FJ)....basically very similar. Ended up dropping the motor after damn near breaking the airbox trying to pry it out with the motor in. Pretty sure that the airbox is 1 of the 1st components installed into the frame from the factory. Best of Luck dude

    wind

73mph is a pretty fair figure for that type of 125 I used to have a '73 DT125.....had it up to 75mph once while down near the beach on a nice empty flat straight.
  6. to the forum Chakka A good buddy of mine used to race an '88 FZ.....& I did a fair amount of pit work for him. V&H makes a decent pipe for those ......also look into getting some steel-braided brake lines....Huge improvement!
  7. to the forum Muzz Another 1st timer on an R6?.......again? Just remember that seat time & experience are the best teachers Ride Safe mate
  8. BadAss looking little Screamer Andy! BTW.... to the forum mate
  9. Gotta agree there Matt.... But I prefer the 1st generation of Nori's Arai's a bit better.... Here he is on his way to his 1st win @ Laguna Seca....after never being there before!
  10. Nitro Nori is Da Man! Been a big fan of him since the millenium when damn near won the title. WSBK has really come outta the dark this season....but I still like watching Rossi fight for yet another world title for Yamaha.

    Milleage on tyres

I've had pretty good results out of Dunlops, & Metzeler's as well Tom. The ME33 Lazer front tire has got to be 1 of the best wet weather tyre's made. I think the Dunlops give better feedback for less money.....& still last a good 6-8k miles.
  12. I'm hoping that all that carnage possibly saved 1 more Yamaha from extinction?!
  13. to the forum Max Don't ride a cruiser currently...... But I did ride this for 2.5 years Daily/Year-round ..... 1 of thee most trouble-free Yamaha's I've owned.
  14. I use carb cleaner to clean any muck that's built up in the cable housing.... Then a good healthy dose of Silicone Spray on ALL cables..........works a treat.

    XS600 help

Maybe check to see if your Pick-up coil mounting plate on the ignition (left end of the crank) has loosened up @ all? Also have a good look into your Airbox & filter(s).
  18. to the forum Smelly I run Castrol 20/50 in my XT with NO probs......Ever! Do a Google search for XT250 forums, is my best suggestion for someplace that's model specific.

    Hola

    Enjoy yourself Amigo!!
  20. The cable would be the likely suspect in my view But it could just be the the cable end has vibrated loose & is about to fall off the back of the speedo? Had that 1 happen a few times to me......especially riding a Big Thump.
  21. Cool Project Dave! Outside of the currently missing bodywork, 'bout the only thing that gives this Beast away is the Bazooka-sized end can. BadAss Sleeper Dude!
  22. Jarno was Da Man!
  23. Sincere regards Robbie! glad to hear you're OK though.... Salvage as many leftover bits from the R6 as you can.... Ya never know what kinda contacts you'll run across whilst selling 'em......maybe a good deal on another R6?
